Sept. 23, 2008 No doubt, one of the major factors causing the recent debacle on Wall Street is the continuing war in Iraq. Apparently, this war is largely responsible for the decline of the dollar and the escalation of the price of gasoline. These very negative trends, in conjunction with others, have proven deleterious to the American economy. At this late date, absolutely no one maintains that there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq or that Iraq was in league with al-Qaida, and any sensible person knows that no one in the administration ever really thought so. The war is a hoax. The war is a fraud. It was undertaken on behalf of Israel by George W. Bush, under pressure from powerful Zionists in government and the media. Avenging the attack on the Twin Towers was a mere pretext seized upon to justify the invasion. The war was not about 9/11. It was about removing the threat to Israel posed by Iraq. But even if the war had been waged, as billed, to pay back the Arabs for 9/11, the blame would still have to be laid at Israel's doorstep, for the attack on the Twin Towers was undoubtedly a reprisal for American patronage of Israel in its invasion of the Levant. Al-Qaida was getting even for those decades of American Zionism. If Israel had never been founded or if the US had taken a neutral stance on the Arab-Jew conflict, the World Trade Center would probably be standing today. All of this was clearly set forth by Paul Craig Roberts, nearly a year ago in an article entitled "Impending Destruction of the US Economy.": http://www.vdare.com/roberts/071127_destruction.htm This is clarified in a subsequent article of his: http://www.vdare.com/roberts/080422_war.htm I've mentioned these things again and again in articles that I have submitted to useless-knowledge.com, and have received a good deal of abuse for seeing Israel as the eye of the storm in the Middle East. But here is the denouement of this odious drama in stark relief. Will George W. Bush be able to say at the end of his term in office, "I may have wrecked the economy of the US, but I have made Israel safe and sound." People used to speak of changing neighborhoods. When a neighborhood started to decline, blacks moved in and took over, with a concomitant increase in crime and a decrease in property values. Then there were changing cities, like Detroit. Now will Bush's term be responsible for making America a changing nation? Will he put Obama in office? ------------ About the author Thomas Keyes: I have written two books: A SOJOURN IN ASIA (non-fiction) and A TALE OF UNG (fiction), neither published so far.
