Sept. 19, 2008 In that old house many people started arriving. It was a summer night, and the homestead was not large, but not too small either. It was what some people called a Second World War house, only meaning that it belonged to a large group of homes, the majority of which were bungalows that were built after that war. Presently, it was a beautiful evening, and in this home there was a basement. The basement had a furnace room, and a cold room. It also had a large main room, where the tables were lined up and covered with tablecloths. Thirty old chairs surrounded the tables. These chairs were brown with some kind of floral design. Steel legs and backs covered with some kind of imitation leather and inside lived that generic type of yellowish brownish type of material harder than a sponge but soft enough to provide cushioning. There was a buzz in the air as the diners gathered and talked. The sun shown through a few small windows and even down from the stairway leading there. Outside four large Doberman Pincher dogs from across the way barked in the distance. The crowd began to eat, and it was a large stew, enough stew to feed a small army as it were, with much bread and wine. Eating and eating. Then afterwards there were cakes and coffee, and by then the sun was going down. To everyone’s surprise, clouds had stepped into the skies, skies that earlier held no hint of this. It began to rain. It was that warm rain, usually found in more southern climates of the earth. Big drops of rain, somehow friendly when they landed. The crowd, most of it anyhow, eventually left. Some lingered and talked, vaguely of plans for the coming weekend and weeks ahead. The diners had been optimistic. It was a time that was pregnant with the future. The entire district was good-natured, and in a way, one house could have been any of the many others. ------------ Email: Brian1750@Hotmail.com Comment on this article here! ------------ All articles are EXCLUSIVE to Useless-Knowledge.com and are not allowed to be posted on other websites.
