Oct. 29, 2008 PART I The Report: “Military intelligence: Iran halfway to first nuclear bomb: Sep. 22, 2008, by Herb Keinon , THE JERUSALEM POST begins: “Iran is halfway to a nuclear bomb, and Hizbullah, Hamas and Syria are using this period of relative calm to significantly rearm, Brig.-Gen. Yossi Baidatz, the Military Intelligence's head of research, told the [Israeli] cabinet…” " Iran is concentrating on uranium enrichment, and is making progress," he said, noting that they have improved the function of their 4,000 centrifuges. According to Baidatz, the Iranian centrifuges have so far produced between one-third to one-half of the enriched material needed to build a bomb.” General Baidatz suggested that Iran is progressing at a point they could construct a nuclear weapon by 2011. He also suggested that all the current efforts of the United Nations’ IAEA, the EU initiatives and recent talks between Iran and U.S. diplomats have not been effective in slowing down the Iranians. The sanctions thus far implemented by the United Nations have been basically worthless in slowing Iran ’s work in creating a nuclear weapon. From the article: "The Iranians are pleased that the gap is widening," Baidatz said. "Their confidence is growing with the thought that the international community is not strong enough to stop them," he added.” General Baidatz sees the Iranians “playing for time”. With the aid of Russia and China the Iranians have been able to hold off greater UN sanctions and continue to snub the efforts of the IAEA to get into the country to verify Iranian nuclear capability. The Iranians have been able to keep pressure from building out of the EU and without a credible reaction to their war rhetoric from the US the Iranians see themselves in the power position for any diplomatic initiatives. From the article: “In addition to their nuclear efforts, the Iranians were also deepening their influence in the region through cooperation with Syria and the Palestinian terrorist organizations, as well as being the main arms supplier to Hizbullah and a source of constant attacks on American troops in Iraq. All of this, he said, was part of Iran 's efforts to stand at the head of the region's extremist front.” “Baidatz also briefed the ministers…that the terrorist organizations were still planning attacks from Gaza , and were recruiting terrorists to go from Gaza into the Sinai, and then back into Israel to carry out attacks or kidnap soldiers. Hamas and the other terrorist organizations have taken advantage of the [recent] cease-fire to rearm and prepare for the next round of fighting, increasing training and continuing to smuggle in raw materials that allow it to increase its rocket arsenal. As a result of the cease-fire, he said, the threat to the home front and the IDF had increased.” “Regarding Israel 's negotiations with the PA, Baidatz said the Palestinian Authority was not willing to compromise on core issues, and was opposed to a partial agreement. He said the PA was holding firm to the position that nothing was agreed until everything was agreed, and were continuing to demand an end to all construction in the West Bank .” So in case you have forgotten the ongoing war against global radical Islamism, General Baidatz, in his briefing to the Israeli cabinet reminds the world that Iran is still waging this war against all things normal. Iran is still pumping thousands of dollars into the training and dispersing of Islamic-inspired murderers. They maintain great relations with Hezbollah, Hamas and a worldwide host of evil characters with the assistance of their Chinese and Russian supporters in the United Nations. The Iranians continue to ignore UN sanctions and continue to rebuff efforts of the IAEA to keep them honest in their nuclear ambitions. The Iranians continue to enrich uranium and point themselves toward becoming a nuclear player mentally capable of creating a nuclear device and religiously capable of nuclear mass murder.
