Oct. 9, 2008 I watched the entire debate and came away from it
with a deep sadness in my heart.
Many years ago I was a member of a college debate
squad and did my fair share of debating for several years. I learned the hard
way how to score points and how to eventually win, but not before making a lot
of mistakes and not having a clear understanding of the rules of
debate.
Last night, Tom Brokaw lost control of the rules
and therefore the debate was not cohesive and not productive in my opinion. When
you have two Presidential candidates vying for public support in a close
election there must be rules when they are attempting to debate one another.
That did not happen.
As for the two candidates....I didn't agree with
anything that either of them said and the impression that I got was that BOTH of
them were anxious to throw even more money at the current economic problems
without any clear thought as to the consequences. My Grandchildren will never
know the lifestyle that I once enjoyed because they will spend their entire
lives paying back a debt that is almost incomprehensible.
I believe that John McCain needed a game changer to
stay in the race and that he didn't deliver it. I also believe that Obama's
ideas are utopic and impossible to carry out.
I could go on and explain why I believe that they
both failed to convince me that either of them was ready to be President during
these turbulent times but that would take far too long and I don't have the
patience to sit here and type that much.
I am afraid for all of us, not just here in the USA
but globally and I believe that we need to make our voices heard and tell the
government (present and future) to just STOP. They need to let those who made
mistakes fail and then rebuild which is the American way.
I would say that they are throwing good money after
bad but there is NO money so it can't be "good".
I am writing to my elected State officials
(one being John McCain), to voice my concern for the way my life and the lives
of my family members are being thrown away for generations to come.
I am going to protest in the only way that I know
how and with the tools within my grasp. I am going to tell them how I feel and I
sincerely hope that some of you will do the same.
I believe with all of my heart that these
"bail-out/Rescue" plans are bad for the country and for the world. If you agree
then speak out.
