Oct. 1, 2008 The first thing that I would do is get rid of
Congress!! If we could remove those blow-hard, egomaniacal idiots we would all
be better off.
Even when they are claiming to help "main street"
(the latest over-used buzz word), they are promising OUR money to the districts
of the representatives they are seeking votes from. It's not bad enough that we
are now going to be responsible for the risky business that brought us to this
mess in the first place, we are going to have to continue paying the crooks both
in the business sector, on Wall Street and in the U.S. Congress who screwed us
in the first place.
It doesn't take a financial genius or an economic
professor from Harvard to know that a loan granted to a consumer with no job and
no credit and no possible way to pay the loan back will crash and burn. Gambling
on the slim chance that these deadbeats would win the lottery does not strike me
as sound thinking.
My parents taught me that if you can't pay for
something, don't buy it. I would no sooner sign up for an ARM loan than I would
cut off my own arm.
Yesterday, when the "Bail Out/Rescue Plan" failed
to pass, Wall Street decided to punish everyone and throw away over a trillion
dollars. Instead of remaining calm and doing nothing they proved exactly what
many of us believe....they can not be trusted with our money. If I want to flush
money down the toilet I'd rather go to Vegas and at least have a good time
losing.
The morons in Congress kept screaming, "We are
going to be non-partisan", yet, Nancy Pelosi opened her big yap and insulted the
very people she was claiming to reach out too. On the other side of the coin,
the insulted ones were using Pelosi as an excuse for not voting on a bill that
their own constituents told them they were opposed to. Their phones were ringing
off the hook, their email boxes were over-flowing, yet they blamed Pelosi (who,
by the way, is one of the stupidest people I've ever heard). How in the world
did she become Speaker Of The House? Oh wait, never mind, she was chosen by a
bunch of equally stupid counter-parts.
Between the Washington establishment, the greedy
heads of corporations and the nut-jobs on Wall Street there was no place for the
economy to go but down.
How about they send each family a million dollars
(after all, it's monopoly money anyway), and let us pay off our homes, cars and
debts? Instead of padding the pockets of people who will squander the billions
of dollars that they are proposing, let us have our own money back. I'd bet that
most Americans would use it wisely and being free from debt, would go out and
stimulate the economy right in time for the Christmas season.
Here's my plan:
Step One: Every single member of the House and
Senate should be immediately up for re-election.
Step Two: Vote for NO member who is an incumbent in
either house of Congress.
Step Three: Send every American family with a
history of paying taxes one million dollars
Step Four: Abolish the two party political system
and make everyone an independent.
Step Five: Make belonging to a lobby or PAK a
felony crime punishable by a minimum of 25 years to life in a maximum security
prison.
Okay, so it won't happen....but I can dream.
