Nov. 20, 2008 The headline said it all: “Planning under way for Obama holiday”, posted in The Capital-Journal Published Sunday, November 09, 2008 which began: “Plans are being made to promote a national holiday for Barack Obama, who will become the nation's 44th president when he takes the oath of office Jan. 20.” Then came the memory-flood of all the articles I had read from all the sources over the past two years of a tediously boring presidential campaign filled with every bit of meaningless political rhetoric ever imagined. Then came all the episodes of CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, CBS extolling the “One” who Luis Farrakhan considers “messianic”, the “One” who sent “tingles” up the leg of Chris Matthews. Then came the memories of opinion pieces of those who fawned over the greatness of the oratory skills of the “One” while completely ignoring the fact that the “One” had actually no legislative accomplishments other than breaking an Illinois state record for voting “present” and breaking another record for being a leading presidential nominee with only 143 days of operating experience in the United States’ Senate. And I thought… Look, Christmas already celebrates the birth of the actual Messiah. Barack Hussein Obama certainly is not the Messiah. Nor can he take the place of the Messiah no matter how many of the masses are fed with the fish taken out of my freezer and redistributed. Presidents Day is a national holiday that celebrates the accomplishments of all the men who have held the office of President of the United States of America . Now if President-elect Obama doesn’t feel Presidents Day is a suitable enough day to commemorate his lack of any legislative accomplishments other than to include Kindergarten in his comprehensive sex education bills, or his support for third trimester partial birth abortions and his support for withholding treatment from children born alive from botched abortions, I might understand that. On the final day, when complete and unchecked abortion becomes the law of the land, perhaps then we can declare that day in honor of Barack Hussein Obama. Families are naming their newborn babies Barack and Michelle. Entrepreneurs are selling all types of “Obama” products to include doggy collars and jackets. The Mainstream media is completely awash in Obama happy stories. Late night jokesters still avoid Obama but insure a steady stream of comedic vitriol against any Obama detractor. The article cited talks about “Obama Cake” being served for the meetings. Obama has made history and maybe one day his face will adorn Mt. Rushmore with the faces of true presidents who actually accomplished things. But that is not today. That remains to be seen.
