Nov. 6, 2008 The above may seem at first a contradiction of terms as we have for decades considered the US to be lynch pin in the western alliance. Over the years it has shown a marked contempt for western values, the last example within living memory being the social revolution of the sixties. It was during this era that large segments of the population showed not only a disdain for western values, but an outright hatred. It was the sixties that introduced into popular culture the smoking of the noxious weed which snowballed into the Haight Ashbury society quickly spreading to all parts of the US, Europe and the rest of the world, leaving us with the now intractable cartels. US culture now continues to evolve in an anti western way, which is hardly surprising considering the reason for the founding of the country. The US is unlike any country in world. Malaysia has more in common with Germany than it does with the US as does almost any country in the world. You see the US is a country with no culture of its own, its origins based upon European culture. As the years passed and new arrivals out striped the Europeans forcing the culture to evolve. It has now reached a point where the original culture has reached the tipping point, Spanish, Indian and Negro culture now combining into a strange new mix to replace it.You might say that this is a world culture but I would say that the rest of the world does not really subscribe to US culture ,it uses it as a kind of a gimmick in order to push sales it generates from US customers.I would predict that when the US becomes less of factor so too will ,in their view, US culture.
The recent election proves the point that the original US culture is just about kaput, most of the voters voting on the basis of endorsing anything not of the traditional European model. When one considers the size of the US this is but inevitable. The US is following the inexorable drift it has been taking since its founding in 1777.
