Mar. 14, 2008 Imagine my shock to find that nary an article has been posted at UK in weeks!. Has it come to this? Is this the death knell of one of the internet’s more innovative news opinion sites, or is the editor wrapped in the throes of apathy? The current state of UK is shocking, in particular when we are in the midst of primary season. There is a viable black and female candidate. There is a septuagenarian. This should be fodder for not only opinion, but UK’s well-documented contentious debate. Surely UK knows how to recruit new writers. There are a lot of writers looking for a forum where they can post their take on a variety if subjects. Some of these writers are extremists on both the right and left, but isn’t that what made UK (in)famous? Where are the pacifists? The flamethrowers? The Limbaugh freaks? Liberals? Hell, I even considered getting back to my article-a-day pace, but I didn’t want this to look like a one-person website. Seems to me that the editors can start recruiting new blood by cruising Yahoo, Google and msn writers’ groups, then perhaps make members an offer of getting their views presented before a worldwide audience. If the site is for sale, or the owner just wants to throw in the towel, he should let both readers and contributors know. By the way, I know this article is below the 500-word minimum set forth by the editor, but this is the exception rather than the rule.
