June 2, 2008 Remember THAT "crisis?" Whatever happened, do you suppose? The issue has been totally off of the radar for a couple of years now, as the eco-nuts have shifted their focus to the phony concept of Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW)--that is, "global warming" CAUSED by human beings. Actually, they've shifted the focus again in the face of an actual DECLINE in average, world-wide temperatures over the past 10 years and are now "concerned" about "Climate Change"--ALSO, as it happens, caused by human activity. Talk about hubris! One is tempted to wonder if these idiots have any concept of how insignificant humans are in the world-wide scheme of things. It's estimated that the total weight of TERMITES on the planet exceeds the total weight of human beings. Someone once calculated that, giving each man, woman and child on the planet just enough space to stand shoulder-to-shoulder, back-to-chest, if one were to gather the totality of humanity into one location, we'd cover about as much of the Earth's surface as is covered by Jacksonville, Florida with the rest of the planet completely devoid of human beings! Maybe the reason the ozone hole has fallen off the radar is that people began to question why, if it's Freon(c) causing it, does the "hole" close every winter. After all, the level of CFCs doesn't change from season to season. Also, if CFCs are "destroying" upper-atmospheric ozone, why can't scientists FORCE such destruction in their laboratories? The truth is, CFCs have NOTHING whatsoever to do with the ozone layer. The so-called "hole" is merely a radical thinning of the ozone layer (which at the best of times is only a few molecules thick anyway) that can be directly attributed to the lack of direct sunlight at the poles during their respective winters. After all, we DO know, that solar radiation impinging on the oxygen in our atmosphere is what GENERATES ozone. The chemical symbol for oxygen is "O". The chemical formula for ozone is "O3," which is merely the bonding of three oxygen atoms to form an ozone molecule. That bonding occurs when solar radiation strikes the upper atmosphere and decays naturally back in to the molecule's constituent oxygen atoms. Since the decaying process takes slightly longer than the ozone generation process, there's always a slight surplus of ozone molecules where there's plenty of solar radiation and it's that "surplus" that forms the ozone layer that reflects UV radiation away from Earth's surface. In the winter, because of the "wobble" of the Earth's axis (which is, after all, what causes the seasons) there is considerably less direct sunlight at the respective poles and the decay process catches up temporarily with the generating process. Thus the "hole" forms at or near the poles. If CFC's were REALLY "causing" the hole, the hole would occur world-wide instead of consistently at the poles. The whole issue was a scam to force the banning of Freon from production, which Clinton obligingly did in 1995. Having thus succeeded, the eco-freaks became emboldened and realized that, with the right application of pressure, aided and abetted by greedy "scientists" dependent upon government largesse for their life's blood, they could literally destroy the U.S. economy and thus fulfill Khruschev's promise to "bury us." These are the same people who were the unreconstructed communists of the 60's and 70's who HATE capitalism with a purple passion and have long lusted after the idea of turning us into another socialist State and who are now on a fairly successful campaign to destroy the economy by preaching this phony AGW nonsense and convincing people that destroying our economy is the only way to "save the planet" from the evil depredations of human beings--specifically, Americans. The banning of DDT was their first "success" followed more recently by the banning of CFC's. If we let them get away with much more, our society is doomed and our children and grandchildren will be TOLD how to live their lives. We'll degenerate into a society in which misery is "equally shared" instead of allowing each individual to prosper or fail according to his/her own talents and abilities. I don't want that for my kids and certainly not for my country. These people MUST be stopped and we're the only ones who can stop them. ------------ About the author: David A.
