Dec. 17, 2008 Economic systems, industrial systems, organizational systems, infrastructure systems, and all systems provide organization, stability, and general coherence. These systems keep us from chaos, confusion, and what’s more, ideally they provide fairness, quality, and equality. But there are times when the systems or aspects of them should be re-thought. In Aldous Huxley’s Brave New world the systems have gone so far as to replace the human spirit. There is a character that knows about Shakespeare and this would be unsettling to the system. In the book this character is referred to as a savage. It’s an interesting idea to project a system’s influence into the future and take out the idea of individual free will. What are left are too little person and too much system. One good way of managing is to work within the system and still be aware that your consciousness has a quality that the system can’t account for. This way you will be in the system, but have an inner knowing that it is just that, and not mistake it for reality. Another way of getting along in modern life is to alter the system from within, through peaceful and diplomatic ways. Hopefully people are people still (as opposed to the robots they are starting to seem like), and somehow new ideas and revisions will be at least considered. There is another system that supercedes any man-created system. That is the system of nature. Not everyone (and sometimes it seems not anyone) can agree on a cosmic system or God system, but the system of nature surely takes a close second. This system will often shake and crumble, twist and torment, wash things away, cover with lava, let loose mudslides, and many more.
So in societal and industrial systems, be quietly aware and conscious, and work from within for the highest good. In natural systems, do what you can, but then get out of the way of the mud, rocks, lava, tornados, waves, asteroids, et cetera. And in Gods systems, pray to your maker, or else don’t if you are an unbeliever. But hey, why not put in a few prayers. That way you are covered just in case.
