Why I'm Leaving The GOP

By David Allen Jared
Aug. 1, 2008

There is a very unsavory faction in the Grand Old Party that has seized control of it and I find I can simply no longer abide being associated with them. That faction is made up of limosine liberals who care nothing for the historic core principles of the Republican Party other than lower taxes....period. Other than that, they are VERY interested in government contracts and the wealth that brings to them, so have little or no problem with the out-of-control spending we've seen over the last 10 years or so, don't care one fig about standing up for the individuality and rights of our most vulnerable--unborn babies, are HAPPY to see the influx of illegal aliens as a source of cheap labor, and are perfectly content with how McCain-Feingold turned over the selection of our president to the liberal media because they'll make money from the government coffers regardless of who the president is.

They are the Rockefeller Republicans who are responsible for the back-bench status of the GOP in the House for over 40 years (and why they are again back-benchers since 2006.) While most of us have been trying to change the country's head-long rush towards socialism, they've been of the belief that their wealth and political influence will insulate them from any difficulties should that happen in their lifetimes so couldn't care less. They are those who OWN the leftist media and don't give a damn that they've turned into indoctrination centers as long as they make money for the owners. They own the recording industry and don't care one bit that hip-hop and rap "music" is negatively influencing the nation's youth...as long as they make a profit.

Don't get me wrong. I am NOT opposed to profits... not even what the left mischaracterizes as "obscene profits." Profit is the fuel that keeps our economic engine motoring along and has made us the most remarkably successful society in history, generating more wealth for more people than ever before. What we class as "poor" in the United States would be classified as "middle income" in most of the rest of the developed world and even wealthy in nearly all of the 3rd world.

Democrats and many of these liberal Republicans seem to believe that they can tax us all into prosperity. That's utter nonsense, of course. No country has ever done any such thing successfully. Even the Soviet Union, in which all the country's assets were vested in the central government--in short, a tax of 100% on EVERYTHING, failed utterly at this and was completely unable to compete in the global marketplace. These limosine liberal Republicans (actually Republican in name only, or RINOs) think they can influence tax policy well enough to allow them to protect their own assets and to hell with everyone else.

In recent years, these RINOs have gained the upper hand in the GOP. Of course, with only a pitifully few exceptions, they were ably aided and abetted by Congressional Republicans who may have started out as conservatives but succombed to the siren's song of power and influence and were convinced by their own leadership that the way to stay in power was to become Democrat-lite.

I no longer have any desire to associate with these people so am leaving the GOP--likely for good. That's not to say that I won't vote for any Republicans if I believe that they represent what I fervently believe in. I may even vote for one or two that are NOT my cup of tea, but marginally better than the Democrats' alternative. I'm going to hold out hope that the GOP comes to its senses and returns to its core principles. It's a pretty faint hope, however. The GOP has become moribund and no longer represents my interests nor those of my family. I hope one of these Easterners calls me some evening and asks for a dontation. He/She's going to hand up the phone with his/her ears on fire.
