Sept. 21, 2007 I have written about this whole baseball steroid issue before and frankly it still sickens me. Not that players are using or have used, but about the etire timing of when to crack down on the issue. It is clear to me that when Barry Bonds started approaching the almighty Babe Ruth in Home Runs, it was seen as an assault on America's game by the fans, 90% of whom are older white folks. The older folks that dislike with great passion any black athlete with a bit of swagger or showman in them. As we all know Bonds went on to pass the Babe, as well as Hanry Aaron to become baseballs all time Home Run leader. The ball that broke the record was recently sold for just over $750,000 to fashion designer Mark Ecko, who has come up with this wonderful idea. He created a website, named Vote756.com. In which the people of America have 3 options of what should be done with the baseball. The 3 options are turning the ball over to the baseball Hall of Fame, branding the ball with an asterisk and then trying to donate the ball to the Hall of Fame, or the third option is to send the ball out into outer space. There's no doubt in anyones mind that the people of America hate Barry Bonds and want that ball destroyed or blasted off into space. Now this Mark Ecko guy is acting as an uninterested party who's going to leave it up to the people of America what to do with this ball. He knows darn well whats going to become of it. The part that really irks me is this guy made his living designing clothes that are favored by primarily African American citizens. Now he's turning around and in not so many words saying screw Bonds. I wish I had a chance to give this dude an earful, but I don't. All I can do is alert Ecko clothes wearing people throughout the country that they're supporting a racist. Boycott this guys clothing and send him a message in way in which he will notice, by hitting his bottom line profit margin.
