Nov. 21, 2007 Liberals are really odd ducks. One who posts here regularly recently wrote a somewhat-rambling story about how he found a roach on the ground, saved it and later smoked it--all without a clue as to where it came from, who had it in their mouths earlier or what they might have added to it to make it "more potent." I can think of few actions less bright, but this guy probably thinks of himself as "erudite" and "sophisticated." When I made a comment about my suspicions as to his background as a pot-smoker, he responded with what I suppose he considered to be an insult. He implied that I might be a "latent homosexual." Isn't it the left that thinks there's nothing wrong about homosexuality? That homosexuals are deserving of the right to marry one another? That they should be afforded special status as a "protected minority?" Why then would one imply that being homosexual should be viewed as an insult? The accusation is, of course, pretty silly. My wife of 41 years would probably vigorously dispute such an assertion, but the point is, liberals are VERY prone to leveling insults atthose with whom they agree and have the oddest idea of what should be insulting. Oppose the homosexual activists' agenda and you're a "homophobe" to those on the left. But, if they want to insult that same person, accuse him of being homosexual, which apparently they believe is one of the worst things to call a person. Curious, no? Sort of tells one WHO the real bigots are, now doesn't it? Liberals never seem to get it. REAL men, especially those who are confident in their own masculinity, are never "insulted" by such tactics and neither are real conservatives who are comfortable and confident in their conservatism. Such 4th-grade schoolyard tactics never work as they're intended but the left persists anyway as though suffering from severe arrested development. Come to think of it, that may be the explanation for liberalism...arrested development. The only evil they seem to recognize in the world is anything that keeps them from gaining and exercising political power. They shed crocodile tears for the Iraqis, Syrians, Iranis, Afghanis and Pakistanis killed in the war on terrorism...most of whom are the VICTIMS of those same terrorists...but shed nary a tear for the 3000 Americans murdered on 9/11. In fact, many on the left have manufactured a fantasy scenario in which it was the Bush Administration that was responsible for 9/11--conveniently forgetting that it was the idiotic policies of Bush's predecessor that emboldened Osama Ben Laden to believe that he could do such a thing with impunity. After all, the Clinton response to previous attacks on Amerians was to lob a few missiles at a camel park and an aspirin factory, killing a couple of janitors and blowing up a few tents. Refusing to admit that evil people exist in the world (that aren't Republicans, that is), the left is setting itself up for disaster. The unfortunate part of all that is that the disaster they're courting may very well be a disaster for ALL of us and none of 'em cares one whit as long as they can seize control of the nation's purse-strings. Another Clinton administration would be the worst disaster to befall us in a century. The last thing conservative could do is to abstain from voting in '08 because the GOP candidate isn't as conservative as we'd prefer. The alternative will be too horrible to contemplate. The last thing we need is yet another dope-smoker sitting in the White House plotting the country's downfall. I wonder what there is about pot, cocaine and meth that's so attractive for liberals. ------------ About the author: David A.
