![]() By Bonijean Isaacs Nov. 21, 2007 My Higher Power has a wicked sense of humor. He hooks Liberal Freespirted me up with a Conservative Scorpio man who sees God in a very different way. It's One Way or the Highway to Hades. That never made sense to me. He see the Bible as the Literal Truth. The Garden of Eden with a talking snake that tells Eve to eat from the tree of knowledge, talking donkeys, voices coming out of burning bushes, a stick turns into a snake that devours other snakes that used to be sticks. The Red Sea parts and lets the good guys cross while closing in drowning the bad guys who were following closely behind and the Virgin Birth. Yeah Sure! Oh Well, I am a Libra who likes debates. I say that it has been my experience that God does not work outside the laws of nature. He works through timing and coincidences. I was told that these miracles worked in ancient times but no longer in modern times. Does this mean that the stories of Camolot, King Aurthur, Merlin's Magic and the Lady on the Lake are actually true? Did Apollo and Zeus actually get all those fair maidens pregnant? Personally I don't think it really matters if Jesus was conceived by immaculant conception or with the help of a Roman Soldier. The message that he gave the world is valid no matter what. Take the story of Jonah and the Whale. The Motto of the Story has an important message that pertains to modern day situations. Jonah was given a mission from God. He decided to follow his own program and boarded a ship in another direction. A Storm came and much of the cargo including Jonah was tossed aboard. A Whale swallowed Jonah and spit him where he was suppose to be so Jonah completed that mission from God. Lives were saved. I can compare my life in the lessons in the the story. I've been tossed in dangerous waters by lovers, employers, family and ex-husbands. Last year, I followed a love connection with a Texas Truckdriver. It led me from West Virginia to Texas. Instead of love, I got tossed into the desert of heartbreak. I've gone from Texas to Nevada to Arkansas back to West Virginia and finally in the Commonwealth of Virginia. If I am not loved or respected where I am it, I am not where I am suppose to be. Sometimes I wished God was like Santa Claus who would grant me my wishes. God does not grant material things or allievate loneliness. He does give the strength to deal with life on life's terms, good or bad, take the lessons and move forward. But Golly Gee Whiz, a higher paying job, a car that is not clunker, and a roof over a home that is really mine would be nice. If Virginia is for Lovers, how about a Lover who is willing to Love me. I wish I would find that whale who take me where I am suppose be so that I can do whatever I am suppose to be doing. Unfortunately, I live closer to a River than I do the Ocean. ------------ About the Author: Bonijean Isaacs is an Astrologer and Freelance Writer in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
