Tale Of Two Households

By Amanda Baker
May 17, 2007

The first household is over-budget, it spends and spends. This household has many loans outstanding: i.e. credit card bills. The people who run this household do not know where the money will come from to get out of debt, maybe their children will pay for it. This house hold only pays the minimum payment. It consumes but does not think of the future nor does this household prepare for the future.

The second house hold is not over-budget. It only spends the income it brings in, nothing more. If this household needs something new and the new thing is not in it's budget, the people get second jobs or cut back on what it spends on to compensate for the need.

Which one is the more Conservative household?

Most would say the second household. That household budgets and trys to compensate for emergency expenditures. That would mean the first household is the irresponsible Liberal household.

But look at the past twelve years that the congress was held by the Conservatives. At first, during the Clinton Administration, they did what the second household did, they gave President Clinton a budget to work with and nothing more. One time that Congress even shut down the government. This made a lot of people happy and brought the first budget surplus that this country had seen in years.

Then, the country voted for President Bush. This gave the Conservative Congress a basic blank check and they started spending like the first household. They lowered taxes, then started spending, giving themselves and their states lots and lots of money that was not being brought in anymore. The Congress became the first household. This did not sit well with many people.

Jobs had been outsourced during this time reducing the tax burden that many companies need to pay the government. Those jobs also were not recreated. The only jobs that have been created during the Bush adminstration have been in the service industry. These jobs pay less which means less taxes being brought in to pay for the services and war that the administration has to or wants to support.

Will the Conservatives go back to their core values of smaller goverment and balanced budget? The answer is no. The Democrats, or evil librals, see what is going on, and they lived in the second house hold for years, about forty years of power.

Why? Are the Democrats special? No, they just spend what is brought in, and they believe in raising the taxes to get the money needed for the services that people demand. The Democrats might be tax and spend, but the country had better roads, police were getting raises that they deserved, our veteran's had better medical care, and we did not import most of our food, we had farmers who did their job, not factory farms that outsourced our food.

It is time to face the facts, and swallow hard pills. We need higher taxes or our children will be paying for our mistakes. Republicans are not willing to raise taxes. They have lost their core values. They made a bigger government but were not willing to pay for it.

We need the tax and spend Democrats. It is in the best interest of our children, paying for this war, and ourselves. It's time for Hillary Clinton to become the first female president, she has good ideas on the national budget. If the country wants, give her a Republican congress, it worked for Bill Clinton to get the budget surplus, did it not.
