The Crystal Ball

By Amanda Baker
May 4, 2007

Everybody today seems to know what the future holds, man I wish I had that power.

A couple of women in the hospital yesterday, knew that a teen mother would ruin her life if she had her baby (the girl wasn't even there, they were just gossiping).

People in the fashion world, predict what will be fashionable in a few months.

The weather men, this year, state that this will be the worst hurricane season ever.

President Bush knows that the Iraqi people will go down in chaos if we pull our troops out and let the new government of Iraq govern.

Once again I state, I would like to have this gift of knowledge.

People quote the quatrains that Nostradamus wrote, they quote the last book in the bible, and they still read Edgar Casey's prediction's looking for the end of the world. If you are that suicidal, the need for the world to end seems suicidal to me, why not just take your own life?

Oh, suicide is a sin.

Well, maybe someone will predict a rise in psychotropic drugs being prescribed to the populous because of a rise in depression. When does it seem possible that a person can be happy 100% of the time? That is so unrealistic.

It seems to me, life is a lot better than what some people are predicting. A person wakes up and the sun has risen. A person eats what they want, unless they are in a country that does not have the means to provide enough food. A person works for pay to collect things that will end up in the nearest landfill. So, trying to predict the end of the world or war or simple chaos seems to be a waste of energy, but it is fun to try sometimes.

The President does not really know what the future holds for his war or even if his party will hold the white house.

The weather men can predict the weather but they really don't know how many hurricane's will happen this year.

The fashion people only know we need to wear clothing. They can't predict if the public will really like to wear feathers four feet tall in the air next season, they can just guess.

And the women, in the wait room at the hospital, don't know if a baby will ruin a teen girl's life. They don't walk in her shoes. The baby will be here because the girl chooses to give the child life, so who are they to judge her future or choices.

Know body knows what their future holds, so let's put down the crystal ball today and enjoy the good things life brings.
