Where Are Speaker Pelosi’s Loyalties?

By Ken Hughes
Apr. 1, 2007

House speaker Nancy Pelosi is on her way to Syria to visit Iran’s best friend in the region, perhaps we should say Iran’s coconspirator in the terrorist game. Syria was a conduit supplying arms to Hezbollah in their recent war with Israel. Syria is also a conduit in supplying insurgents fighting the American military in Iraq. Does this bring into question the Speakers loyalty to America and its friends in the region, just how anti-American is Pelosi?

Speaker Pelosi is treading in un-chartered waters. No speaker in the history of this nation has ever had the chutzpah to usurp the president authority in matters of international diplomacy and conducting war strategies. Perhaps Speaker Pelosi would do better to keep some of the promises she made prior to ascending the throne of power and not try to over perform the president.

Speaker Pelosi would do well to read the constitution and realize she isn’t the supreme authority in the government. The government consists of three separate but equal branches the constitution clearly defines the powers of each branch. If Speaker Pelosi intends to make congress the leading authority in the government she’s going to have to submit a constitutional amendment to the 50 state legislatures for their approval. I doubt she’ll live long enough to make that happen.

Call me sexist but it’s been my experience giving petite women monstrous authority creates monsters. Nancy Pelosi took the Sparkers position like the preverbal Bull in the China Shop. She is obviously out of control and it’s equally obvious she lacks control of the house, it’s doubtful the House could be controlled with so many presidential candidates having committed to the campaign this early. Traditionally the House uses this time to establish their credentials for their next election, the presidential candidates are stealing congresses thunder with the media, that and the Bimbos with their trials and tribulations.

Speaker Pelosi is following in the foot steps of her famous father Congressman Thomas D’Alesandro of Maryland. As effective as he may have been that was then and this is now, we need 21st century ideas not the bar_room politics of the past if this nation is going to compete in a world that will surely be influenced more by economics than wars.

Speaker Pelosi would serve this nation better if she were to visit some of the emerging nations and make friends with them rather than those who support terrorism. Better yet Speaker Pelosi could get her collogues in the House to institute some reasonably fair immigration laws and stop passing it off on the president who has no way of mandating immigration reform.

There’s hypocrisy by liberals in congress for making the troops in Iraq who are fighting the war on terror an issue. We’ve had troops in Europe Asia and other hot spots around the world for 60 of years since WW II we must assume they were there to keep the peace, otherwise why? I’ve yet to hear any congressmen suggest we bring all military personnel home and redeploy them on our boarders to quell the invasion of illegal immigrants coming out of Mexico, Canada and the Caribbean.

That’s an issue Speaker could take up instead of playing nice with more Muslins terrorist’s leaders. Where is Nancy Pelosi’s rage over the British Sailors and Marines being held by the Iranians, maybe she’s having a Jimmy Carter moment or maybe she’s just being a liberal who’s also anti-American. I can say Nancy is anti-American since I don’t subscribe to the idiocy of political correctness. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck but sucks up to Muslim terrorists its no duck. It’s usually an anti-American congressman.

Democrats have been able to avoid responsibility for the nation’s ills since 1994. Republicans were in charge of the house until now. Times and leadership changes and so does the responsibility and the blame for all the things congress does or doesn’t do. Democrats can sugar coat their failures any way they like fly over America can see what’s going on even if Washingtonians can’t.

2008 will be an interesting election for congress, If Democrats continue on the path they’ve chosen in these early months they’re very apt to be on the outside looking in come the next election.
