Which Is It Global Warming Or Climate Change

By Ken Hughes
Mar. 19, 2007

I don’t consider myself a skeptic I’m more a realist I see things as they really are and not as some would like them to be. There are those who believe only man can make a tree. I’ll gladly put my faith in God and what’s happened in the past more than what someone tells me may be happening maybe some day.

I’ve yet to see one of these predictions where the predictor says positively this is what is going to happen because. As a Child on my father’s ranch some 70 years ago I would rest against the bottom rail on the corral fence and listen to the ranchers discuss the weather, a favorite subject at the time. Weather effects ranchers and farmers more than it does most of the scientific community. Understandably they would know more about weather than say your average [paid to perform] researcher. Climate change has been a fact for centuries but never to the degree it’s being suggested today. One half degree in 100 years isn’t all that scary.

I’m amused by those who claim to know what Ken Hughes watches or reads are peeking in my window. Fact is they don’t know squat about where Ken Hughes gets his information. They assume he follows their path to knowledge by reading and thinking what they are told by their mentors to watch and read. No Ken Hughes has a brain and uses it very well thank you.

Quit frankly I read Mr. Smiths 7 page article and I didn’t find an original thought in it anywhere. Nearly all his writing can be found on a variety of internet postings. On the other hand Ken Hughes has observed conditions for 75 years on 5 continents and from the Artic Circle to the Pampas of Argentina. I would also point out Darwin didn’t get his theories out of a book rather they went into a book. I grant you Mr. Smith has the greater talent using words while Mr. Hughes excels in common sense and serious observation.

I assume Mr. Smith feels if you don’t respect the speculative theories of science if you’re not in the loop then you simply aren’t qualified to have an opinion. As we country boys would say If yur not fur-em yur agin-em

Mr. Smith seems to hold Al Gore up as some kind of iconic figure. Does Mr. Smith know the Gore family fortune came from growing and selling tobacco one of the most carcinogenic products ever to hit the public markets? Mr. Gore’s lifestyle certainly doesn’t indicate he lives green. It would seem Mr. Gore’s contribution to environmental pollution is ten-fold that of the average American family. Now he’s being excused because he buys pollution credits way to go Al.

I must admit I’m impressed with Mr. Smith’s narrative and his assessment of the information he gathered for his article, I’m sure it took a great deal of time and effort, my only question is “What the hell did it say?” Was it challenging Ken Hughes country boy views on the environment, was it an advertisement for Al Gore. Was it meant to explain global warming or was it written simply to point out science is the Lord of the Manor and can’t be challenged. Your guess is as good as mine. What ever it was or is you did one hell of a job Fred and you are to be congratulated. I will continue to believe global warming is all about some people making a lot of money off other people’s fears, in other word just one more political ploy by liberals I’m sorry progressives

I’m at a loss to understand your last paragraph, why would I or anyone else want to send you $ 20.00? Is it by chance to buy an emission off set for my Ford Escort that gets about 35 miles to the gallon of E-85? Don’t worry Mr. Smith in 2008 when Hillary becomes president and we return to the good old days of Jimmy Carter, inflation unemployment excessive interest rates a stagnant economy you’ll forget all about global warming, then you’ll be out promoting socialism for Hillary.

A happy Saint Patrick’s day to all, you don’t have to be an environmentalist to be Green you know you can be Irish as well.
