Bush And Gonzales: Writing Their Own Laws
By Michelle Malsbury
Mar. 15, 2007
Recently we have been told that there are at least 22
breaches by the FBI in the 126 page report conducted by the Inspector General
of the United States.
How many more abuses have gone un-tabulated? Will someone be punished for these
illegal acts? What role does Alberto Gonzales play in this whole seedy
scenario? How far up the chain of command do these abuses go? Who knew what and
when?
Let us begin with February of 2006 when President Bush renewed
the Patriot Act disregarding the provisions that congress set forth to curtail
abuses which we now know are rampant within the judicial branch of this
government. Much of this abuse of power according to that 126 page report
surrounds the national security letters (NSL) which demand that either an
entity or an organization hand over various records or data. These NSL’s
do not require a warrant, judicial oversight of any kind, or probable cause,
but are merely at the whim of the FBI and Alberto Gonzales. In addition to
those requirements the NSL’s come with a gag order and mandatory
compliance all dolled out in the wake of 9/11 with the Patriot Act. Should our
government be able to trample on our human rights? (Weiss, M.-AP, March 9, 2007

I believe that this further justifies this Administrations
lawless ideology in which President Bush and Gonzales ride herd on the world in
their greedy quest to control every aspect of human life from conception
through death. These men need to be held liable for these injustices. Charles
Schumer (D-NY) went on record stating the he feels that Alberto Gonzales has
more allegiance to Bush than to the American laws and Constitution and he is
not the only one who feels this way. Arlen Specter (R-PA) said that he feels
that Gonzales tenure has run its course and that he should step down as
Attorney General. (Yen, H.-AP, March 12, 2007 article posted on www.news.aol.com/topnews )
With an Administration that is losing credibility with the
American public and the world daily Bush can ill-afford to keep Gonzales at his
side. However, their relationship goes back to Texas and Bush seems to have a difficult time
assuming any responsibility for failure, adequate planning, or oversight under
his leadership, or lack thereof. It is obvious to me that Bush and Gonzales
feel that laws were made for just about everyone except them. I say it is high
time that the American public and the media hold them responsible for their
injustices against us. Please call or write your local congress people and
invite them to join in an investigation of all wrong-doings by this
Administration and Gonzales failure to act in his official capacity as Attorney
General of the United States
of America by safeguarding the rights
afforded all Americans under the Constitution.
