More Hypocrisy From The Liberal Media

By Tom Pain
Mar. 14, 2007

I’m sure there are a few liberals among our readers that wish I would just quit pointing out the despicable liberal bias in the major media outlets. How can they keep denying the bias with each of my exposures and still look at themselves in the mirror? Honestly, I don’t know. I couldn’t.

The news media have become the "other party" in the United States. There are Republicans and there is the news media. Democrats are nothing except stooges beholden to the media for their very existence. Without the media’s bias in their favor, Democrats would be battling Libertarians for second place in our political system.

Compared to the liberal media, the WWF wrestlers are paragons of virtue and honesty. There is actually more suspense watching a WWF match than there is listening to or reading the major headlines every day. You might as well dream of the Lone Ranger losing a fistfight as hope that the liberal media will describe world events accurately.

What is the latest puddle of puke from the media that has me so angry you ask? It’s the fraudulent outcry over the firing of several US Attorneys by Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez.

The 93 US Attorneys know when they are hired that it was a political decision. Like many other bureaucratic positions, theirs is a political appointment and it is understood that their tenure ends with a new administration. That’s why they are hired for a four-year term, but that appointment can be ended early if the Attorney General chooses. They have no "right" to the job. It has always been that way.

That’s not to say that a US Attorney cannot remain when a new administration comes into office. There is typically a transition period so as not to disrupt the orderly process of court business. However, any US Attorney who thinks they will remain in office throughout the term of a new administration – one that did not appoint them – is a fool. Since attorneys are typically well educated, I doubt any of them are fools. The eight fired US Attorneys would fail a lie detector test if they denied any expectation of being dismissed by the Bush administration. In fact, they were probably pleasantly surprised to have been on board this long.

Yet, the liberal media creates a huge event out of the dismissal, as if making a political appointment is scandalous. But wait, you say, what makes that biased? Maybe the press are just muckrakers and would treat any administration the same, given the chance, you claim.

In 1993, Janet Reno, President Clinton’s Attorney General fired all 93 US Attorneys from Bush ‘41’s administration. That she demanded their resignations at the same time and so quickly prompted one of the Attorneys, Jay Stephens, to suggest that it was politically motivated. He had an open investigation underway of Democratic Representative Dan Rostenkowski, "a crucial ally of President Clinton," and had just informed his superiors that he expected to make a "critical decision" in the case within 30 days. What do you know, within a couple of days, he’s told to be out of his office ASAP. The theory is that Reno fired all of them at the same time to cover up that she needed to get rid of Stephens.

What, you say you don’t recall any of that making the news? It did, but just not in the same way that you’re seeing the shoe on the other foot these days. Here’s one story from Time magazine. Note the positive wording: "prosecutors are routinely replaced after a change in Administration," and "All 93 United States Attorneys knew they would be asked to step down, since all are Republican holdovers." And how about this response: "Administration officials dismissed Mr. Stephens’s veiled assertions about the Attorney General’s motives as "absurd," as one put it, saying that what was surprising was that it had taken so long before the Justice Department could begin putting its own appointees in place."

So, it’s OK for Clinton to fire all 93 US Attorney’s in an unusually rushed manner, but Bush fires eight holdovers six years into his tenure and he’s an evil politician.

As I said, the liberal media is out of control. This current hypocrisy over the US Attorney firings is not just one crazy source – the accusatory tone is coming from every major liberal media source. It is blatant bias, unfounded it every way.

In other words, it's just another puddle of puke from the liberal media scum.
