And The Survey Says
By Michelle Malsbury
Mar. 13, 2007
This past weekend CNN conducted a survey [Friday thru
Sunday, posted on www.CNN.com on March 13,
2007] regarding what America
thought was best with regard to Iraq.
The conclusions of that survey were that 6 in 10 Americans felt that we needed
to be out of Iraq
immediately or within a year at the longest. What does this bode for the Bush
Administration?
One would think that with most of America,
and the world for that matter, against the war that Bush instigated with Iraq in 2003
and for no apparent reason other than just because that they may consider what
is prudent for everyone in the long run, but alas they will not. In fact, they
sent 4,400 more troops to Iraq just this past weekend with plans to continually
add more (up to 21,500 or so) until they can begin to quell the growing
violence in that civil war or get slaughtered, which ever may come first. Does
this seem like a fair plan to you?
Democrats won the mid-term elections because they promised
to stop this war. The democrats have proposed a number of possible scenarios
that would end up bringing our troops home no later than September of 2008.
However, Cheney and Bush have taken a hard line against this timetable saying that
they will veto any such legislation. Cheney went so far as to add that doing so
would aid the terrorists and that the democrats were attempting to micromanage
this war. To them I say get real!
Bush and Cheney have taken gross latitude with our basic human
rights and the rights of people around the globe. President Bush seems to think
that laws are meant for everyone except him and his cronies. Gone are our
rights to privacy. Gone are ones right to counsel-case in point those held at
Gitmo or other places without being charged or allowed to legal opinions of
such detention. Does this seem like the America we all know and love?
Various news agencies have reported that the recruiters are
now taking criminals into our volunteer service in exchange for prison or jail
time because we are so low on troops and so obviously desperate to continue
this frivolous war with Iraq.
Does this seem like a sane thing to do? Are these the faces we want to
represent America
abroad? I say not!
Cheney and Bush need to be stopped! If this Administration
continues to fail to agree to timetables or budgetary cuts set forth by this
new congress with regard to Iraq
there is no alternative other than for congress to move forward with
impeachment hearings immediately. America is tired of waiting and
getting no results for our hard earned patience. The clock has run out on Bush
and his war with Iraq.
The time to act is NOW! Please call or write your local congress representative
to le them know that we do not support this troop surge and we want the funding
for this war cut off and our troops brought home NOW! If this is not possible
then we want a new Administration to move us in the right direction toward
peace and prosperity! Impeach Bush and his entire Administration NOW!
