Mar. 13, 2007 There have been a few takes on race that I’ve read in the short time that I’ve been writing articles on Useless Knowledge. Some have been pretty interesting. I’ve learned quite a bit. I learned from Dr. Brooks A Mick that blacks have terrible phone manners. I’ve learned from the world traveler Thomas Keyes that blacks are someone violent and prone to crime. As I said, these are indeed interesting takes. That being said, I have my own takes. I’m going to make this a bit more interesting though. I’m not going to openly name the race that I will be talking about. It’s up to the reader to guess which group of people that I will be discussing. All major races of mankind will be touched on. Before I get to that though, I’ll go into a little background on myself. At one time I was very prejudiced. I grew up in the sixties and seventies when there was probably even more racial tension than there is now. As a little boy, I heard my older cousins speak of experiences in school with those of other races. I heard others who were older than me, and I was easily impressed by their ill words and feelings toward other races of men. Whereas the issues of race now for the most part go incognito, in those days it was still open and blatant. Some of my most vivid memories was when those of other races would drive down my street at night. There would many times be some locals down the street at the park to wait until they would drive by. Someone would be stationed farther up the street to alert the others in the park who would be passing by shortly. If the person was of another race than my own and those in the neighborhood, a rock or brick would be hurtled at the passing car with the unfortunate occupants. We would delight in the sound of breaking glass, the screeching of tires and the racing engine of the car trying to flee. Our neighborhood was not poor; back in those days everyone was working and held steady jobs where I lived. Everyone usually bought a new car every couple years or so. All the kids I grew up with had all the toys and food that we wanted, and the clothes and other items that were needed. Poverty was not the excuse; hatred was. One fall night the usual occurred but this time someone came to our door for help. He was a man who was on the verge of tears and wanted my parents to call the police for help. My mother offered the man a cool rag and dressed his wound while my dad called the police. The side of his head was bloody. He was neatly dressed in a suit with a trench coat. Other than his injuries, he was a well dressed handsome man. Even as a little kid, I felt deep empathy for the man and wished that the older kids and teens hadn’t bricked his car. Although I was to go through many more years as a prejudiced man; especially during my trucking days, that incident in 1970 put a face on the results of blind hatred. My brother and I received a little teasing for my parents being good Samaritans to the hated race, but there was nothing more serious than that. In my over forty years of life, I’ve learned that there is good and bad in all races. We came from a common ancestor and apparently the earth with it’s climate changes has made some minor superficial changes to that original mold. There have been some changes to some of our psyche as well. Some races have more common sense than technical sense. Some have more technical sense than common sense. There’s one race of people who will stick their head in a lion’s or alligator’s mouth, than fault the animal if it happens to clamp down on the ripe melon. “Why did the alligator bite?” There must be an investigation as to why, story at eleven. They will swim with Stingrays and if the animal harpoons them, it’s then the animals fault and some clowns will go out on a mission to kill “the bad, evil” Stingray. They will swim with the Orca and have it put on shows for amusement on a timely manner. If the Orca goes berserk, not particularly wanting to perform that show for the umpteenth time, there has to be an investigation, story at eleven. Everything is to be bought, sold, manipulated. People at one time were for sale; now organs are. Everything is bad until this race gets a monopoly on it. Gambling was bad; until the “wonderful lottery” was invented. This race will climb down into a volcano when it is ready to blow in order to take lava samples for study. In short, technical sense, but severely lacking in common sense. There is good side though. Without the courage of this race to go where others feared, the world still be farming and having wars with spears. Another race is absolutely seething with ignorance and self-hatred. They are selfish and trivial. “I’ve got mine, too bad you ain’t got yours.” The self-hatred makes for the only people on the planet who will not stick together on anything. They are extremely fearful; almost to the point of being cowards. Many eagerly accept the stupid beliefs of their oppressors; even if the, at one time oppressors stupid god resembles the oppressor. They will still stupidly flock to a place of worship and without question praise a dumb god in the image of the, at one time oppressor. The worst thing of all that I have ever heard for any race is this: Some in this race fought against those in wars of old, both south and west, ON THE OPPOSING SIDE, who gave comfort and protection when their beloved oppressors held them in bondage. Unbelievable. The good side is that mankind is somewhat reminded of common sense when too lofty of ambitions are overtaken. This race also is absolutely seething with ignorance. However, there is no self-hatred and therefore they stick together and thrive. The modus operandi of this race is to infiltrate and then lay claim. Seize by numbers. They lay in wait to see who is on top; attach themselves to the race who thinks that they are on top, then they blossom into their own, metamorphically like a butterfly. The good side…I dunno, yet. This race wants to rule the world. Since the days that civilizations first began to become aware of each other; this race has schemed to overtake. First if was by war, then by a cheap influx of gadgets and cars. Once the making of cheap cars and gadgets became perfected; in with an almost, cult-religion type fervor, the rug was pulled out from under those who began to trust this race. The gadgets and cars that were actually surpassing the quality that you could by in the Western World began to fall in quality. Now with the world reliant on their cheap workforce, they have the world over a barrel. Story at eleven. This race, although a little rough around the edges in some instances of the past, and prone to alcoholism, has done nothing that I can think of that is really bad. Probably their most grand mistake was manifesting on this planet with those who didn’t likewise act as human beings. Now you see, we all have our problems. Mankind works best as a team; not as separate entities. To those who think that they are perfect, read this again and tell your friends. ------------ About the author Brian E.
