![]() By Ken Hughes Mar. 4, 2007 Michel Malsbury and I are good friends and often communicate on a number of subjects. One place we’ve never been able to come to an agreement is on George Bush and his administration. Contrary to what Ms. Malsbury Ms Pelosi and Mr. Reid believe Pelosi and Reid do not rule Congress. Congress is made up of 100 Senators both Democrat and Republican and 435 members of the House of Representatives both Democrat and Republican neither party has the necessary majority to out vote the other. Pelosi and Reid are little more than hall monitors, their authority is limited to one vote each the same as the rest of congress. The constitutional rules explicitly explain the division of authority between the three separate but equal branches of government, Executive Legislative and Judicial one doesn’t hold power over the others. I would like to correct some of the impressions Ms. Malsbury left us in her latest article. We are at war with terrorists not with Iraq as was stated. It has never been a George Bush War the majority of congress voted for the resolution to invade and liberate Iraq, a dozen or more other countries participated as well. At the first sign of blood Democrats ran up the white flag indicating a willingness to surrender. Ms. Malsbury states Pelosi said she would cut 20 billion from the war budget, not so Pelosi doesn’t have the guts to de-fund the war if she could. When a politician doesn’t want to soil their hands or good name they send out surrogates to do their bidding. Nancy Pelosi has found the perfect lap-dog in John Murtha. Murtha has become the John Kerry of the Iraq War all mouth and no courage. Ms. Malsbury unequivocally states The American public elected Democrats to end the war and bring the troops home. I’m really not sure where she came up with that information the most recent polls still say the public thinks we should stay to win in Iraq and that’s by a 54 % majority. The public has called for the war to take a different direction and it has with the new command authority. And by the way Democrats didn’t win the election Republicans lost for not doing what they were elected to do. I often wonder how intelligent people can accept outright lies, manufactured allegations with no basis and unbelievably bitter hostility for some one they only know through what they’ve heard and not what’s plausible. Not even a half way intelligent first grader would believe some of the things Democrats have said about George Bush. Joseph Gerbils Hitler’s propaganda minister frequently said if we tell a lie enough times it becomes the truth. A statement not lost on the Democratic Party. In defense of Ms. Malsbury she isn’t the only one who’s a tendency to over state her politics. Ann Coulter the unofficial potty mouth of the conservative movement in a recent speech called John Edwards a Democratic Presidential candidate a Faggot. That is totally uncalled for and that isn’t the only incident Republicans can’t be proud of. Politics has become almost as undesirable as kiddy porn. Ms. Malsbury is an accomplished author I read her book “Three years with Adonis” when it first came out. My only complaint with Michele is it’s my belief she doesn’t know politics from cotton candy and isn’t interested in learning. Maybe that’s why I like her so much she’s a nice person and entertaining. How many people do we know who would have the guts to ride out two hurricanes on a 63 foot Yacht with only a dog a cat and a flashlight for company? ------------ About the author: Ken Hughes is a retired businessman, who’s traveled extensively, observed much and learned much.
