July 16, 2007 Regarding Meri Ulrich:
And fools like Meri, with their priggish self-righteous snobbery, lick it up and spread the lies. First, let's discuss whether or not I am
"Priggish".
Here is a definition according to
Dictionary.com
–noun
—Related forms priggish,
adjective
prig·gish·ly,
adverb
prig·gish·ness,
noun
—Synonyms
prude, puritan, bluenose.
Ah yes, I do come across as described in said definition at times, but so
does the writer of the articles who criticizes me! I do deal in trivial matters
(Paris and Angelina are most definitely trivial in my
opinion). Are they subjects without merit or unworthy of
discussion...I don't think so, as they shape part of our current culture and are
seen as role models for some of the vulnerable amongst us.
I have a point of view and I write what I feel so I suppose that I am
guilty of being precise, fussy and maybe even a little self-righteous when
I am into a topic of particular interest to me. I know of no writer who is
attempting to get a point across who does not come across this way at
times. As for being "irritating", well, I must leave that opinion up to
the reader of my articles. Of course, I don't find myself to be irritating (most
of the time), although I have been known to piss myself off.
As for being a "puritan" as is also defined within the scope of the word
"priggish"....., you can't hear me, but I am laughing at the very thought, as
would all those who know me.
Let's move on to "Snobbery"
That is absurd since I do not know what social status the writers here
belong too and I am not under the delusion that I am better or of a higher
social order than the rest of you. I am probably considered very low on the
social food chain considering that I live on Social Security. As for
education, yes, I do have a good deal of that under my belt, but so what? I know
a lot of people who are educated (far more so than I am) and many who have no
education at all. They don't judge me and I don't judge them. I try to remove
myself from judgmental people because they are truly snobby and usually very
unpleasant to be around. It seems to me that the person who wrote the above
critique of me is one of those judgmental individuals who I would avoid. I
suspect that I am not the only one who feels that way about him.
As for "spreading lies", yet another weak argument and an absurd claim. I
write what I personally believe to be true and nowhere am I telling anyone that
they MUST agree with me or believe as I do. Where in the world does it say that
stating an opinion is absolute proof that something is true and that an opposing
viewpoint is a lie? Once again, the person who judges me in this manner is
even more guilty than I could ever be of spreading facts disguised as absolute
truth. The proof of this is in the fact that he continues to belabor the same
points over and over again without respite, while hammering people over the
head with his beliefs and opinions. It is pointless to debate this individual
because he is blinded by the light of his own narcissism.
As for politics, I have been on both sides of the fence and I no longer
believe that ANY political group or individual politician will right the wrongs
that I see before me. They may try, but they eventually cave in to the lobby
with the deepest pockets. After all, isn't it all about getting re-elected?
In my opinion, most politicians start out with
righteous intentions and end up going along to get along.
Polls and professional campaign fund raisers seem to have the strongest
influence on our elected representatives........in my
opinion.
Let's talk about religion.....a hot button topic if there ever was one. I
see that their are those who believe strongly in God and religious teachings and
live their lives based on this and I also see those who do not believe in God at
all nor do they follow any religious teachings. The opinions regarding this are
loud and clear on this site. I respect every single one of them whether or not I
agree. Aside from mentioning that I am of the Jewish faith, it is no one's
business what I believe or how I worship. I do not feel compelled to cram
my beliefs down anyone's throat as I see some doing here.
THAT behavior is priggish and self-righteous.....in my
opinion.
As for being a fool...well, I must strongly disagree with that at the
risk of sounding priggish, snobby and self-righteous.
If you knew me and spoke to me you would soon discover that I am
far more self-deprecating than snobbish and priggish and that I NEVER
assume that I am right all of the time or that I am the only one who's entitled
to have an opinion, and when I am wrong I will admit it.
Nothing that you see here defines my entire persona nor do all of my
articles together define me as a human being. After all, actions speak louder
than words.
I therefore dispute the charge that I am priggish, snobby or self-righteous
and certainly no one's fool...
Judge not, lest you be judged
You speak about me and others,
Yet fail to see
That you are human and so are we.....
When you are perfection
Come speak about me again
Then I will listen
But not until then.
