![]() By Ken Hughes Jan. 28, 2007 Forget the constitution, forget 230 years of tradition and law, forget we are supposedly a nation where the majority rules. Let Nancy Pelosi assume full authority for the direction this nation is headed in for the next two years. It seems Ms. Pelosi hasn’t done her home work, The Speaker of the house is third in line to the presidency and then only if the president’s removed or incapacitated. Ms. Pelosi seems to be getting ahead of her position as Speaker of the House. What would happen if George Bush and Dick Cheney handed the keys to the Oval Office over to Nancy Pelosi and told her to take this job and shove it? She’d wet her pants from fear not from joy that’s what would happen. It’s one thing to have all the answers when there’re no consequences it’s another to have to take the heat when you’re in charge. Pelosi was never elected to her new position by the full house she merely assumed chair of the House. Electing a chairman requires a vote of the full house not an affirmation of her democratic co-conspirators. That’s why we assume we live in a democracy so one person or party doesn’t make all the rules. The founding fathers intended government should be a shared exorcize of power. This nation’s traveled a thousand miles down the wrong road since the constitution was ratified further in the past 25 years than any time in history. It was never intended political parties dominate congress the intent was one congressman one vote yes or no as their conscience dictated. The founding fathers were dreamers otherwise they wouldn’t have left so much in the constitution unsaid with the hope future generations could keep the wheels from coming off things. For the Politicians, Bureaucrats and Lobbyist who permeate the nation’s capital politics has become their new religion. Like most religions everyone believes in one God. [My God isn’t your God and never will be.] When the beliefs of the party circumvent the benefits of the nation we are in serious trouble. Had congress and the exertive branch been working together the situation in Iraq and the war on terror would have undoubtedly taken a far different course. Democrats blame Republicans and visa versa. The truth is both parities were playing politics with the wars, both Iraq and terror. While those arrogant bastards in congress played politics with the war and blaming it on the administration young men and women were fighting and dieing for a cause they believed was just and would eventually pay dividends. Now we’re at the crossroads will the cowards of the country, [Liberal Democrats] have their way or will we continue to fight terrorists far from home and not in our own back yard? Nancy Pelosi has just gone to Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan with he cohorts. This is a county mile beyond the authority of the Speaker of the House. Ms. Pelosi has no authority to discuss military affairs with foreign leaders she’s usurping the Presidents authority to conduct war, its written in a book called the Constitution of the United States. There’s a solution to the arrogance of congressional politics and its, Term Limits the same as congress placed on the presidency. If politicians were only allowed to serve a maximum of 12 years in either house of congress it would open the process up to a flood of new thinking and a new generation living in the modern world of ideas. It would eliminate congress playing the blame game settling past grievances and retaining power. In the past quarter century the American public has been divided by politics more than any time in history. This can be attributed to the vast expansion of the media and the advent of the internet. Is it that people are becoming more interested of just some people are becoming more interested. We do know congress in doing their best proposing new laws to silence this new vocal minority that’s rapidly approaching majority status. Congresses claim is the new citizen communicator lacks the facts and therefore misrepresents what they’re speaking out about. Misrepresent facts never seemed to bother politicians or the media in the past why has it only now become a problem?
