Jan. 26, 2007 Hizbollah is at it once again. Not satisifed with having started a war last year it now seeks to overturn the government and bring back Syrian and Iranian domination. Hizbollah, a terrorist group owned and operated by the Iranians has been seeking to turn lebanon into an Iranian style state ever since it was founded. The problem is that the Lebanese aren't buying. Parlimentary elections produce meager results for the "Party of God" so they resort to Mao's theory about power coming out of the barrel of a gun. They have influence in the government only because they have tens of thousands of armed members. Their aim is well... their aim is to do whatever Iran tells them to do. Their aim is an islmaic republic on Israels northern border. A republic that will wage unending Jihad against the Jewish state. Now, why should anyone in America care about this? After all Lebanon is on the other side of the world, and would try to wipe out Israel not the U.S. Well if you believe that I have some wonderful real estate in Florida that I would like to sell. Hizbollah almost certainly has sleeper cells here in the U.S. and Hizbollah has launched terror attacks against the U.S. the attack on the Marine barracks, that left over 200 marines dead was done by Hizbollah. For that alone we should have wiped these wanna be Nazi's off the face of the earth. In order for democracy to have a chance in the least democratic region in the world we can not allow an armed Islamist, jihadist group to take over. If there is one thing that we should have learned from our war against jihadists is that we can not allow them a safe haven. To give them one is to give them a base of operations to launch constant attacks. For Iran to gain control of Lebanon through Hizbollah not only puts us in danger it leaves the Lebanese at the mercy of mindless, medieval, muslim barbarians. So what Iran and Hizbollah seek to destroy we should seek to protect. If we are for democracy then we must not allow the government in Beirut to fall to mindless theocrats. We should seek not only Hizbollahs destruction, but we should see to it that Lebanon remains free. The government should be provided with aid. This money could go to allow the government to strengthen its military, allowing it to stand up(and hopefully defeat Hizbollah). A stronger military would allow the government to control southern lebanon. The southern part of the country has been ruled by Hizbollah as its own personal fiefdom. That must come to an end. The government must seek to erode the support for Hizbollah. Hizbollah convinces the people of southern lebanon that they are on their side. They do this by building hospitals(which usually serve as ammunition depots as well) and providing other services to the poor. Hizboolah has been buying loyalty. We can't allow this to continue.
