Democrat Convicted in Redistricting Plot To Dilute Minority Voting Strength

By Tom Pain
Jan. 5, 2007

Over the last two years or so, Texas has been under attack from Democratic Party activists over a new redistricting plan that erased a gerrymandered plan put in place by Democrats a decade earlier. For the last two decades, every statewide election (Governor, Lt. Governor, U.S. Senators, etc.) has resulted in a Republican being elected. In every Presidential election since Reagan, Texas’ Electoral votes have gone to the Republican candidate. Despite the obvious evidence that Texas is a Republican state, our U.S. Representative delegation had been solidly Democratic throughout this time because of the gerrymandered districts created by the Democrats.

Tom DeLay figured out how to change that, despite Democratic legal challenges that were denied at every level up to and including the U.S. Supreme Court. Unfortunately, in retaliation, a District Attorney in the lone bastion of Democratic strength in Texas, Austin, has vigorously pursued criminal charges against DeLay. In a heretofore unseen move, that DA empaneled multiple grand juries until one finally agreed to indict DeLay. Although it cost DeLay his political career, he has still not been convicted and it is doubtful he will be. Like Scooter Libby, the Bush Chief of Staff, Democrats are able to corrupt the system sufficiently to attain indictments and ruin their target’s reputation; convicting is a bit harder thanks to our legal system’s requirement for proof.

What was the Democrats supposed complaint with the new Texas redistricting plan? They alleged that it diluted minority voting power. What was the reality? More minorities were elected to the U.S. House than in the previous Democratic gerrymandered districts. Why did the Democrats still complain? Those elected minorities were not Democrats.

All across America, the liberal media labeled Texans ‘racists’ and disparaged our state. Over and over, we have had to listen to that media hold up the liberal states on the East and West Coasts as beacons of progressiveness that should serve as examples to the other states.

What is the reality? Today, Thomas Finneran, Democratic Speaker of the Massachusetts House of Representative pled guilty to felony federal charges of obstruction of justice for his role in crafting a redistricting plan that diluted minority voting strength.

Does anyone else see a pattern here? Democrats recruit minority voters with a continuous onslaught claiming Republicans are racists. Yet, the current Republican administration has more minorities in positions of real importance than any Democratic administration ever. Republicans want to end racist Affirmative Action laws, and end antiquated desegregation laws that serve no purpose. In every aspect, Republicans seek to treat minorities like every other person – everyone is equal, everyone has equal opportunities. Democrats, on the other hand, want to perpetuate the illusion of racism and that Republicans are the cause, so that minorities continue to vote Democratic.

However, I write today to point out a different, and equally troubling, reality.

When I read the headline announcing Finneran’s conviction, I was curious to learn whether he was a Democrat or Republican. Since I had never seen the story before, I suspected he was a Democrat (their indiscretions are typically buried in the newspapers), but I wanted to be sure. So, I clicked the lead story on Google News In the entire article, there was no mention of his party affiliation. I was not surprised after noting that it was provided by the Associated Press – a biased liberal organization. So I clicked the next one. (dang, just went to grab that link and the story is already gone from the Google front page – but, I found it anyway.) Every article I clicked did not mention that he was a Democrat.

So I went to Wikipedia. Amazingly, even its biography on Finneran does not specifically mention whether he is a Republican or Democrat.

I have noticed this bias before, especially in AP stories. Not only are stories on Republicans skewed to seem negative, the fact that the person is a Republican is always mentioned very prominently – often in the headline. However, when a negative story on a Democrat must be published (they do it as little as possible – see William Jefferson, Hillary Clinton, etc.), you will often not even see mention of their party affiliation.

What is the reality?

Democrats are just as corrupt as Republicans – and they are more racist at the senior level – but you’d never know it by reading / listening to the main stream media.
