Stop The Killing, Stop Bush

By Michelle Malsbury
Feb. 23, 2007

Finally the democrats are considering and working towards a binding resolution that would revoke the extreme privileges that were granted to this Administration on the heels of 9/11 to combat terrorism. I say it is about time! The voice of America has never been greater than it was this past November in the mid-term elections. Their united voice called for changes, serious changes. These changes need to come about in the way of curtailing and diminishing the powers delegated to the executive branch of this government. Bush and his cronies have run amuck and desperately need to be reined in!

Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi have a difficult task to stop this administration for stepping up their ill-fated war with Iraq. Are they equal to the task? I hope so because many of us Americans placed our hopes and wishes in their hands in November and are patiently waiting to see the fruits of those seeds.

The way I see it there is no alternative except to begin the immediate removal of our troops from Iraq. For four long years Americans have listened to the stale rhetoric that this administration doles out with regard to the threat posed by Iraq. First, it was the weapons of mass destruction and when that did not prove to be true Bush used the threat of chemical warfare because his father had sold chemical warfare to Saddam during his presidency. And when that proved to be false Bush said we needed to remove this awful dictator from power and free the people of Iraq. Recall the news reel of Bush in his flight suit and the banner touting "Mission Accomplished"? How many more missteps, lies, and fabrications are we going to grant this man and his administration?

I say we have passed the point of progress in this war with Iraq and most of the world agrees. Enough is enough! I believe that they [the Bush Administration] had no plan in the beginning and still have no plan now. I believe that this administration fabricated intelligence data to use as support for this trumped up war with an innocent nation. I believe that Bush and his entire administration are guilty of war crimes and should be punished by impeachment at the soonest possible opportunity.

The UK has begun pulling their troops out. Is not this a huge wake-up call for our president? Does this not tell us that the war is not winnable in a military sense? Many generals in the field have stated on record that this war is not winnable and as punishment for going against Bush they have been fired. It appears that anyone who does not stand up for whatever Bush wants gets demoted therefore his entire administration is filled with "yes" people. I say wake up Bush and smell the scent of our dead and severely wounded for what purpose? Smell the scent of tossing more good money after bad! Stop this war by refusing to fund it! Stop this president by passing binding resolutions to absolve him of these privileges! Impeach Bush and his entire cabinet of merry warmongers! The time is NOW!
