I Mean, President Obama For no particular reason I got Season One of 24 and watched it all over again –my wife couldn’t understand why, but then its no surprise that probably the (most) sane US politicians and US policy makers live in Hollywood. To recap, the 24 story is the seeming unthinkable script that could only happen in movies but here in 2007-2008 the seeming unthinkable is about happening – a black man and not just any black man but a black man with roots from dirt poor po-dunk, one horse country called Kenya (in a continent called Africa), a country most American would have to solicit the aid of a National Geographic interactive world map feature twice to locate – Sierra Club members excluded….. of course. This black-man is about to make history or is he? It will be enlightening to note that pure bred Americans like Jesse Jackson failed at party nomination levels or maybe as Eddie Murphy joked… “Jackson would be too busy dodging sniper (scopes) on the podium to complete his acceptance speech…” War hero Colin Powell probably realized that some aspect of his ‘iree’ ancestry would be too deeply delved into or it was something else and decided a quiet contemplative life of speech tours sun and surf would be in order than the minefields of D.C. Senator David Palmer was shocked to discover that the plot to assassinate him was not because he was black which was Hollywood’s way of telling us American society had graduated from that level…. ‘civilized’ so to say, therefore there may be no literal assassination plot against Barak Obama, those purveyors of hate may have applied to go shooting else where probably in Afghanistan or Iraq or watching their stock option else where assassins have none the less been busy a fellow ‘Uker’ ran an analysis on the Barak Obama guy pointing his Podunk African roots, his smoking habits (cigarettes) his womanizing -JFK was all that and it wasn’t an issue. Probably the most weak spot in his armor his religion: if senator Barak Obama turns out to be practicing Muslim, he will never make it pass the first ‘swing state’! Rising star – a constant and steady reference to Obama in the American press gives me the jeebies and watching Obama ‘Act’ reminds me of another star- Denzel all the way down to the characteristic hot-salted- peanut- dipped-in-hot chili/cold chili way of talking/speaking –the guy should be in California gunning for Oscars and world wide fame not a drab life in Washington D.C. Obama is likelier to last just about 4 years that is if he doesn’t go the way of all modern White House dodos under the sniper’s bullet ironically from the same group of people clamoring for American to desist from all wars. I really don’t think American will vote Obama as the next president because I don’t think America is ready yet, there is too much at stake for that earthquake to be allowed to happen. Culture shock may be the trend of the 21st century – to have Obama as the next president of the United State of America would be too much of a shock to the system, society and psych – it would be a literal survival of a race at stake and am not talking about the black pace. ------------------------------------ The Wise Men On Camels Have Left The Building 'Never fight two wars at once’ (Ancient principle of Rome) Maybe ‘dumb classified risk assessments’ left the building when Don Rumsfeld left the building and maybe not. But there is a general unease or more accurately- yes an unease that maybe not America but her allies specifically the United Kingdom maybe be in also in a plot to attack the Islamic Republic of Iran, as Blair was roundly criticized for his support of Bush but since Great Britain’s 9/11 all thumbs seemed up as to the actions being taken. According to V.G. Kieran (Holy War, The Lure of Victory & Passing of America As A World Power) ‘Pearl Harbor satisfied our expectations, and molded our need that war have certain symmetry. Pearl harbor likewise satisfied the requirement that the threat, and his ultimate evil, be universal this would permit a universal response; in the quest for universal moral entities..’ someone somewhere read the manual all wrong. Initially Afghanistan satisfied our expectations, and molded our need that war against the Taliban initially (then Bin Laden and then Saddam) have a certain symmetry, unfortunately symmetry went out the windows of the ‘two towers’ – and so it seems common sense too and all form of reasoning want asymmetrical. It was folly granted that the job in Afghanistan was not property finished and no sooner another front launched against Iraq which daily chops up and throws up dead American soldiers and more dead Iraqi men, women and children, Hitler learnt it first hand when he decided to open the front -Russian front. Granted the ‘universal evil’ label worked only in theory as the attention of the righteously indignant American people moved to the Middle East offensive against terror (and world wide sympathy), in practical however the quest for universal morality want askew as seen in the abuses and crimes of injustice committed against the same people who had lived under tyranny which the forceful entry was meant to upend… As the clock ticks and finger are wrung, here is how the Western folly maybe played out: 1. A blockade of the Straits of Hormuz This was a popular widely used tactic in the days of ‘carrier fleet task force mentality’ and when mediums of mass communication were not as accessible as today. The publicity against a modern day siege would prove quite unpopular not forgetting the fate of the USS Cole. 2. Israeli type Iraq operation. The Israeli always had the ‘chutzpah’ or more bluntly – the ‘balls’ to go into a hostile country and dismantle an Iraqi nuclear plant, blow up what they couldn’t carry away and fly back out. The Iranians are wary of this and would have staggered or spread out their nuclear program over a wide region so that other components of the program would continue to function even if one or two were to go out of commission, but on the whole this just be as bad as option Nr.4 3. Surgical strikes. Targeting of 5000 pound depleted uranium missiles for one we all know that ‘surgical cruise missile strikes are not so surgical and that the depleted uranium sometime still emits radio activity, and once again the sites are scattered and maybe in secret locations as well. 4. Boots on the ground invasion. 20th century – contemporary Western leaders may have had the unfortunate privilege of being endowed with a ‘medical dose’ of common sense- but no right thinking American president of British prime minister would contemplate another Iraqi style- Ahmedinijad ouster, any attacking forces would meet an insurgency style defensive onslaught and court(s) of world opinion would not maintain as silent a status quo as with Iraq.
