Feb. 18, 2007 As the coyote walks across the near tops of hills, winds come gather snow, and swirl snow, and blow snow across the air. Coyote travels and travels. He doesn’t look up then, but keeps his head to his path. Coyote is skinny and shaggy. And beyond where he traverses, there are kilometers and kilometers of a greater world. While he goes, or sleeps a bit sometimes at night, there are other things… In a gas station the attendants are Egyptian. One worker says that there is nothing to say about death. He puts it this way: “There is nothing you can say in a situation like that my friend. My brother…he was a great physician. He was great because he helped everyone he could all of the time. He always came to help people. Poor people and rich people and at any time. But where were his friends when he needed them? When the cancer got him, he went fast, and nobody really bothered with him.” And coyote keeps moving. On an autumn eve, months before, a man walks out his front door and stands on his front lawn. He needs a bit of air, and to look at the night sky. He grabs his chest, falls over, and is dead. The next week there is a phone call and a woman says this of him: “ We used to play cards with him every week. It was a long time ago. He was a good guy. He liked to gamble though. He played the horses, I know that. He was a lawyer. A month ago he looked to be in terrible shape. He said he fell off a ladder cleaning eaves troughs. No. Well, maybe. But he might have gotten harmed by some people he owed money to.” And coyote is covering ground again. He looks so lonesome there, and frail, but he has his own kind of beauty. Go coyote! Don’t look so sad. There is always hope. They say it springs eternal. ------------ Email Brian Michael Barbeito: Brian1750@Hotmail.com Comment on this article here! ------------ All articles are EXCLUSIVE to Useless-Knowledge.com and are not allowed to be posted on other websites.
