 By Jack Lepiarz Feb. 10, 2007 Dear Mr. Stewart, Hello, my name is Jack Lepiarz, I'm a Broadcast Journalism major at Emerson College in Boston. As a journalism student, one of my assignments for this semester is to find a journalist, follow him or her through the semester, and then finally interview that person in late March or early April. I would like to know if you would be willing to let me interview you for my class assignment. All that it would require of you is a half hour of your time to conduct the interview. Now, I understand that you're a very busy man, and a random interview with a college student isn't exactly at the top of your list of priorities. Maybe I'm setting my hopes a little high by trying to interview the host of the Daily Show, but that's a chance I'm willing to take. As a child, I was always something of a class clown (and not because I used to live with the Big Apple Circus). Now as an adult (legally, at least), I still love to make people laugh. At the same time, I love journalism, hence why I'm majoring in it. On the Daily Show, you combine those two into one package, which is why I want to interview you over say, a columnist for the Boston Globe or the New York Post. I watch the show every chance I get, and being able to interview the show's host, to get an idea of what it's like to be Jon Stewart, to understand how you got to the point where you are, or even simply to get a good grade, would be the highlight of my college career. If you would be willing to let me interview you, I would appreciate it more than words can express. In any case, thank you for reading this letter.
