 By Bonijean Isaacs Dec. 16, 2007 I was in a chat room discussing the fact that WallyWorld Customers kept asking me how to cook the turkeys, hams, ducks, catfish, and ad infinitums they were purchasing. I am a WallyWorld Associate. I am not a Domestic Goddess. A friend suggested that I sell them cookbooks. Now when a customer asks me how to cook something, I point out the section that sells the books and suggest that they check out the Holiday Cookbooks. Betty Crocker or Martha Stewart can give better advice on how to cook a turkey than I can. It was reported at a meeting that Cookbook Sales have gone up by 70 percent in the past week. Yippee!!!! Some folks bewail the commercialization of Christmas and the Holidays but increased sales and profit sharing is a good thing for some of us. My car is going to be a lot happier when it gets a much needed rack and pinion. I am dating a prestigious retired Naval Officer. I need to buy High Heels so that I can impress him. A Santa from Down Under got sacked for saying “Ho Ho Ho” instead of “Ha Ha Ha!” His employer said that Ho Ho Ho was offensive to women therefore politically incorrect. There are some local customers who will buy “Ho Ho Ho” Cupcakes just because they are politically incorrect. Maybe, Dolly Madison should invent “Ha Ha Ha” Cupcakes for the Politically Correct Customers. I will cheerfully point out the Bakery Section to Customers and tell them all about Santa’s favorite Gourmet Chocolate Chip Cookies. I would certainly have an ethical dilemma if I sold customers five hundred dollar sets of encyclopedias that they don’t need. Nevertheless, I will cheerfully make the local economy, Martha Stewart, my Employer and Santa Happy by selling cookbooks to go Turkeys that customers are going to buy anyway. Maybe next year, I will be able to afford to buy a new car instead of a rack and pinion for my old one.
