Dec. 5, 2007 If you believe that Hillary Clinton's 8 years as first lady "qualifies" her to be President of the U.S., then I assume that when your auto mechanic is off sick you're perfectly content to have his wife work on your transmission. After all, she's been with him through all those other difficult repair jobs. Or, if your doctor is tied up on another case, you undoubtedly call on his wife to take care of your strangulated hernia, huh? Silly? Of course, but it's the logical extension of Hillary Clinton claiming that her "experience" as first lady automatically makes her the best qualified Presidential candidate. This is a woman whose only claim to fame is that she married an ambitious, though unscrupulous, politician who succeeded in getting himself elected twice to the Presidency while garnering considerably less than a majority of the popular vote--the very thing she and her ilk have claimed for 7 years made the G.W. Bush presidency "illegitimate." Yes, she's sat on some boards and headed up the disasterous attempt to nationalize (and ultimately destroy) the greatest health-care system on the planet. Yes, as junior senator from New York, she succeeded in gathering mega-bucks in "earmarks" for her constituents--especially after 9/11, though a blind monkey with a paralized arm could have done the same thing at that time in our history. But what has she done on her own that qualifies her to be Commander in Chief? The answer, of course, is absolutely nothing. As unqualified as HE is, Barack Obama is just as qualified as Ms Clinton. Yet, there's a real possibility that we may find this disfunctional couple back in the White House in 2009. In any other era, this would have been virtually impossible, but we have so many people (especially women) who are in love with the idea of a woman President, that she COULD sneak back in to the White House's private residence. I can visualize hundreds, if not thousands, of women figuratively wetting themselves with the prospect of finally getting a female President, and it won't matter one whit to them that she's singularly UNqualified or that such an administration would be an unmitigated disaster for the country. Oh, I know it'll take more than women to get her elected, but about 30% of the electorate are yellow-dog Democrats who'd vote for Jeffrey Dahmer if he ran as a Democrat, so there is a REAL danger to the country in the coming elections. For the past four Presidential elections, Democrats have at least attempted to conduct them like the Russian and Venezuelan elections were run over this weekend.....massive fraud and ballot stuffing. Our system is a BIT more difficult to manipulate than those, though, and they've been only partially successful--the 1992 and 1996 elections, in particular, though they tried buying the votes of the homeless, registering non-citizens and helping them vote, sabotaging the offices and vehicles of GOP campaigns to thwart THEIR get-out-the-vote efforts to name a few more recent examples of out-and-out cheating. If you've ever wondered why the Democrats have fought tooth and toenail any effort to assure that a person voting in an election is actually ENTITLED to vote, by now there should be no doubt. Democrats are likewise adept at disguising who they are and what they stand for, for example. Almost every, single Democrat who replaced a Republican in Congress in the 2006 elections RAN as a conservative in order to gain the seat. In part it was the GOP's own fault because they've governed the country like liberals for at least the last 7 years--with the notable exception of the conduct of the War on Terrorism. Spending like drunken sailors on shore leave, compromising their principles to "get along," trying to pass yet ANOTHER amnesty bill for illegal aliens, and ignoring the specific demands of their conservative constituents in the faint hope of somehow convincing the major media and entertainment industry to "like" them. Hillary MAY get herself elected, but, given her massive negatives, you can almost be dead-bang certain that it'll be either by fraud and deceit or because the GOP was too stupid to nominate a conservative to run against her who'll be willing to give as good as he gets, because her smear machine knows no equals and she's NOT shy about using it against anyone who opposes her ambitions....even another Democrat. ------------ About the author: David A.
