Apr. 29, 2007 One day there was this new post in my inbox, so first I was wondering if it was spam, but then I decided to open it up. To my relief, it was not spam, but an invitation to write an article for U-K, which at that time was still unknown to me. So I decided to do the obvious, namely to click on the link, go to the site and familiarise myself with the situation and the contents of other people`s contributions. After all, as the old saying goes, when in Rome, do as the Romans do. What I saw did not greatly surprise me. Apart from the few interesting articles, travel stories and so on, I found the ubiquitous flame-wars, which, as a seasoned and long-time usenet reader I am already well acquainted with. Sadly, these days people seem to have no respect for each other any more. Perhaps this is because their only role-models are corrupt politicians, industrialists and media people, whose only interest in life seems to be to amass more and more wealth and power, as if that was the only goal in life. They will lie and cheat to achieve their nefarious aims, thereby not only corrupting themselves, but also their environment, and when confronted with the truth, all they can do is to become abusive and go on the attack against the messenger. The other alternative is that people have lost their religion, which would explain the nowadays widespread hatred of Islam, which is perhaps the last remaining religion on this planet with any effective hold over its followers. Hatred is often the result of jealousy, the belief that someone else may have a better life than oneself, whether it is deserved or undeserved, even if this is just manifested as more dignity and a contentedness that is not based on monetary values. We cannot even blame those corrupt politicians, as it is not they who are in power, they are merely puppets, whose strings are being pulled by invisible groups of godless individuals. These faceless puppet masters always operate from the shadows, giving their commands via their ownership of all monetary institutions in the world, and plot their dastardly plans in dark hidden corners where noone can get at them. If we look at the situation objectively, then things seem bleak indeed, but there is always a way out, there is always hope. This hope, our only remaining way out, is the internet, the new frontier where freedom has not yet been completely eroded and where like minded, and by necessity open minded individuals, can spread the knowledge that one day will sweep away all lies, deceptions and distortions of human reality. It is no use to stick our heads in the sand, as it were, pretending that everything is still allright with the world, believing that our so-called elected leaders would never stoop to subterfuge against us, believing that they have our best interests at heart. If we stay with this belief for too long, then by the time we find ourselves in chains, as slaves to a select elite, it will be too late to do anything about it, to late to change our destinies. So the time is now to wake up and look at our surroundings with critical eyes and to see that things are just not as they should be any more. Ask yourselves, is it the natural way for both parents in a family to work full time jobs just to make ends meet? Is it the natural way to find it necessary to let our children grow up in day-care centres instead of with their natural parents? Ask yourselves, who benefits from this situation, is it ourselves, or those whose aim it is to enslave us as well as our children? Can anybody still remember the times when grand-parents were living with their families, helping to teach their grand-children by telling them stories that will impart family values, instead of being stuck away in lonely care-homes, where they are of no use? They spend their remaining days just as bored as the neglected children, who have no other choice but to roam the streets in search of something to do, usually ending up finding the excitement of drugs and the mischief of gangs. Again, who benefits from this state of affairs? It is certainly not us, as individuals, neither is it our children. The time has come to change this situation now, so that at least future generations are able to impart their experiences to the young in order for human culture to flourish and to grow. It is time to take back our humanity from those who wish to dehumanise us, to accept our responsibilities and to pass on our knowledge, our family values, adding it to the universal consciousness of humanity. We only have this one planet to make the most of, to make the best of. Let us not allow anyone to take this right from us. ------------ About the author: Paul Parker-Cale is from London, UK (that stands for United Kingdom, not Useless Knowledge).
