Apr. 9, 2007 So the Iranians capture fifteen British marines, and sailors, and the British do nothing. One pines for the old days where gunboat diplomacy was the norm for London. Now the UK has gone wobbly, and given Iran a major victory. Iran has shown that they can do anything they want and the west does nothing. To the Iranians it only proves a major belief of Islamism, namely that the west is a paper tiger and will do nothing to fight. Today it is kidnaping sailors from Iraqi waters, tomorrow... well we’ll see. So Damascus Nancy thinks that she can bring peace to the Middle East. Let’s see there hasn’t been peace in the Middle East in about three thousand years. It is arrogance for this San Francisco idiot to believe that she can march into Syria, don a head scarf, chat with President Assad, and everyone will be in peace. Maybe Nancy didn’t get the memo, but she isn’t the Secretary of State. She’s the Speaker of the House. Her job is to bang the gavel, a job so simple that even someone from San Francisco couldn’t mess it up. The democrats seem to swing between two governmental theories. When a democrat is in the White House it is treasonous to disagree with the President. Republicans who thought that President Clinton was wrong were portrayed as trying to subvert the republic. When a republican is in the White House, they feel that it is the duty of congress to run the federal government. Rather than one man having the final say they think that a committee of 535 should be in charge. So Nancy Pelosi shouldn’t just be in charge of the House of Representatives, she should be our top diplomat as well. Would someone please staple Dick Durbins mouth shut? The irritating little Senator from Illinois is now demanding congressional hearings on... pet food. He wants to know why the federal government didn’t take more aggressive action to prevent the death of pets. So now it is the responsibility of the government to take care of cats and dogs. So is Senator Durbin going to demand that a department of pet wellness be set up, that a secretary of pets be appointed. Where in the constitution does it say that the government is responsible for animals. I understand that people are attached to their pets, and don’t want them to die. But it is not the responsibility of the government to protect them. We have ceded too many freedoms to the government in exchange for government services, let’s not say that they need to take care of pets sickened by pet food as well. An article appeared recently in the Washington Post urging that Vermont secede from the Union. Now it did appear on April fools day, so maybe it was all an elaborate hoax. But if it’s real then don’t let the door hit them on the way out. It means we don’t have to put up with Senator Leahy, Senator Sanders, or Congressman Welch. It was southern arrogance that led to their disastrous attempt to secede, now it is New England self righteousness that leads them to think about breaking away. You see, it is their progressive beliefs that makes them morally superior to the rest of us hillbillies. At least that is the way the some people in Vermont apparently see it. So we have unemployment of 4.4%, 180,000 jobs added, and Americans think that the economy is in the tank. That’s largely thanks to the fifth column that calls itself the media. There’s no news like bad news. Democrats need despair and gloom, otherwise they are a permanent minority. It looks like there is an inconvenient truth for Al Gore. The high apostle of environmentalism is wailing like Cassandra that the sky is falling, and the earth is soon going to be heated up to a smoldering cinder. Well it’s Easter Sunday, winter is behind us, and as I look out the window this morning I see three inches of snow on the ground. Yet I’m sure the green weirdos can blame that on global warming.
