Sept. 30, 2006 The world has been made aware by now, the reasons behind the sudden resignation of Mark Foley, a fifty-two year old Florida Congressman. It seems that Mr. Foley, a Republican and esteemed founder and chairman for The Missing And Exploited Children's Caucus, had been secretly sending e-mails to minors (at mention two boys) bordering on pedophila. Some of the contents of the e-mails have this man asking a young page to send him a 'pic' of himself. The fallen congressman also asks in another e-mail, 'what are you wearing?' Stating that comments made in his e-mails were innocent conversation, the former congressman and staunch advocate for missing and exploited children; Quickly resigns. The young man who forwarded the e-mails to those in authority where he worked as a page to learn the basics of political workings under the auspice of such men as Mark Foley, was apparently, 'freaked out' and felt that this congressman's overtures of friendliness and his requesting a picture, 'sick, sick, sick; The word sick repeated numerous times by the young man for emphasis. Mark Foley, a devout Catholic, a single fifty-something man, showing interest toward young boys, hmm, wonder what John Walsh is thinking right about now? Remember John Walsh? His only son at the time was kidnapped and murdered by some sadistic sicko, spurring Mr. Walsh to seek justice for victims of crime by working with authorities to capture criminals. It's reported that Mark Foley worked with the creator of America's Most Wanted to put into effect laws registering sex offenders. It's a fact that sex offenders come well educated, well spoken and capable of holding the highest office in the land. The Republican Congressman possibly resigned so quickly in an attempt to halt further investigation into his lifestyle; His world as he lives it. Perhaps he doesn't want to reveal his sexuality. Maybe, he's in total denial, or, perhaps he truly believes he hasn't done anything wrong. In stepping down from his position, Mark Foley apologized to his family and the people of Florida for letting them down. I wonder, shouldn't he be apologizing and seeking absolution for insinuating himself into the personage/minds of young boys? ------------ About the author: Clara B.
