Sept. 30, 2006 I have always donated when I could to worthy causes, particularly when children are part of the equation. Trenton Duckett is a 2 year old boy from Fl. who was reported missing by his mom. If you haven't followed the story, the crux of it is that there was a bitter divorce, the father had not seen his child since June. His mother was named melinda, and the father's name is Josh. During the bitter divorce, melinda had lost custody of Trenton several times. Once she kept Josh on the phone for hours, as she did "things" to make Trenton cry. Another time in a parking lot she threatened and tried to snap the childs neck. DFACS or it's FL equivalent has since lost the tapes of that torment. melinda Duckett had hacked into Josh Duckett's computer and posted a vicious note to herself from Josh. The note played a part in Melinda having custody of Trenton at the time of his disappearance. melinda Duckett had thrown Trenton's toys, food, pictures, and even a sonogram into a dumpster. To quote Rhett Butler " a cat is a better mother than Melinda Duckett. Josh & melinda both appeared on Nancy Grace, she asked them each the same questions, and Josh answered his, melinda Duckett did not. I am not a fan of Nancy's style, I think she is rude to her own experts/guest, but I believe she was fair, and considering the fact that Trenton was still missing even if her intentions were not honorable she was still getting the word out and pictures of the baby up to increase the chances of finding Trenton. Melinda Duckett left several notes, went into a closet at her Grandparents home and shot herself. There was no mention of Trenton by name in any of the notes left. Josh Duckett is very young, he still believes his son is alive, and I hold that hope up with him. Past experience tells us that he probably is not. The point of my piece is that Josh Duckett is holding car washes to get the reward up and keep people looking for Trenton. At last count there was a $10,000.00 reward. We all know that very large sums of money were donated to the Natalee Holloway funds. As I understood it, the fund was also to help others search for their children. If that is not true, it should be. I hope the Holloway's, and Duckett's find their children, but there is a much greater chance that Trenton can still be found. Perhaps the Holloway/Twitty family will help Josh Duckett find his son. Josh is not sophisticated, and he is very young, but he is proof that class can't be sought, or bought, and isn't determined by chain length fences or wrought iron gates. You simply have it or you don't. Josh Duckett has it, and he should not have to wash cars to make us care about his child, and Trenton Duckett is worth more than $10,000.00. Note: I realize that I did not capatilze M.D's. name but because of a recent article on that subject, I couldn't press the caps button when referring to her, that would suggest respect I simply do not feel. ------------ About the author: Joy Taylor, a mom, who use to be somebody's daughter.
