Nuclear Israel And The Grand Design

By Thomas Keyes
Sept. 25, 2006

Tom Pain, in a recent post, twisted beyond recognition the meaning of a 1968 article to which I had linked. The quotation to which he objected is, “According to the Zionists’ schedule of operations, within a decade the Israeli empire will be the master of the Middle East and take its place as a nuclear superpower on equal footing with the Soviet Union and the United States .” Pain remarks that that belief taints the entire article, making it sound as if the author of the article, J. M. Henshaw, had been predicting Israel’s hegemony and nuclear arsenal to be established within a decade, when actually Henshaw was only fairly accurately sketching Zionists’ ambitions. The choice of the word “decade” may have honestly reflected Jews’ overly optimistic aspirations at the time, but events have shown that Israel has indeed become a nuclear power and may well be on its way to masterdom in the Middle East, albeit more slowly than had been anticipated back then. With the US occupation of Afghanistan and Iraq , and the present confrontation with Iran , as well as the recent war between Israel and Lebanon , it is beginning to look as if a concerted plan of action to take over the entire Middle East is actually in progress. Time and time again, we hear that the US and Israel have a tremendously important strategic alliance. More and more, it appears that “strategic alliance” is a code-phrase for “conspiracy of conquest.”

It is widely believed that Israel possesses an arsenal of 100-200 nuclear weapons, and though admittedly this does not put them on an equal footing with the US or Russia, it does give them superiority in the Middle East, where no other countries are known to possess nuclear weapons.

The Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) authorizes only Russia, the US, China, France and the UK to have nuclear weapons. All other signatory nations agree to use nuclear power only for peaceful purposes. Both Iran and Iraq have signed the NPT and there is no evidence that either country has recently been in violation of the NPT. The US only falsely alleged that Iraq had nuclear arms, as was shown by the weapons searches there. Now the US is alleging that Iran ’s enrichment program suggests that Iran may be seeking to build nuclear weapons. Those two countries, along with North Korea , which claims to have nuclear weapons, form what is called the “axis of evil”. It’s strange that that cliché was invented by David Frum, a Zionist Jewish speechwriter for George Bush. He couldn’t be one of the engineers of a massive disinformation campaign, could he? Did Bush approve the phrase or was it imposed on him? North Korea has only 2 to 5 nuclear weapons.

Meanwhile, India, Pakistan and Israel, all of which have nuclear weapons, have not signed the NPT, challenging the bias whereby some nations may have nuclear weapons and others not. However, Israel has never openly admitted having nuclear weapons. Why doesn’t the US apply pressure on Israel to sign the NPT and admit inspectors? The facts make it indubitable that, if there is a nuclear threat in the Middle East, Israel is the culprit. The US is not seeking general non-proliferation. The US is seeking only to prevent Israel’s enemies from getting nuclear weapons, while conniving at Israel ’s own nuclear buildup.

It may be recalled that on March 7, 2003, Mohamed el Baradei, of the International Atomic Energy Agency, denounced the now famous Niger forgeries. You would think that if the US had been sincerely concerned with getting at the truth of the matter, they would have welcomed el Baradei’s information. But, no, this only annoyed John R. Bolton, then Undersecretary of State for Arms Control, now US Ambassador to the U/N, who conducted an unsuccessful campaign to prevent el Baradei’s reelection as head of the IAEA. This hostility makes it look as if the US government knew fully well that the documents were forgeries, and was angry either because they couldn’t deceive el Baradei or because they expected him to accept the forgeries, feigning ignorance of their falsity, on the assumption of some tacit agreement to look the other way.

Recently, el Baradei characterized as ‘outrageous’ a US House of Representatives committee report on Iran’s nuclear program. Now, let me be very clear: according to all the sources I have read, Iran currently has no nuclear weapons. It is in the process of enriching (refining) uranium, a prerequisite to either peaceful or bellicose intentions. The only difference is that it must be enriched to a much higher degree of purity to qualify as weapons-grade. So if Iran were to enrich to the higher purity, it would suggest that perhaps they were thinking about nuclear weapons. But the IAEA maintains that Iran has enriched only to the grade suitable for peaceful purposes. The US response has been the typical evasive, ambiguous, in-your-face rationalizations. This suggests that the US is merely gunning for Iran, and doesn’t care a whit about the facts of the matter. I hate to say it, but given the outcome of el Baradei’s findings on Iraq as against those of the US government, I would sooner believe el Baradei than the US on the subject of Iran.

Anyway, regardless of the fact that Iran has signed the NPT and agreed to abide by its terms, the circumstance that India, Pakistan and Israel have refused to sign it, and feel free to develop nuclear weapons to their hearts’ content, provides a reasonable basis for Iran to consider the NPT forfeit. As it stands, we have a situation in which you must obey the law only if you have agreed to. If you haven’t agreed to obey, you are free to disobey. Demanding, under threat of sanctions and military action, that Iran live up to the NPT, when they haven’t even violated it, while allowing Israel to hold the NPT in utter contempt is a display of incredible duplicity for a country that prides itself as being gallant, fair and magnanimous.

As I mentioned in a couple other articles, George W. Bush has become a pro-Israel monomaniac, and this is the true basis of his drive to start something with Iran .

Conquering the Middle East is Israel ’s Grand Design, as was so ably described by Henshaw, dated though his article may be. And its nuclear arsenal is a key element in realizing the Grand Design.
