Sept. 22, 2006 I read over many times that Islam is a peaceful religion. I basically believe that to be untrue. There are no truly “peaceful” religions. There are truly peaceful men. I believe the Catholic Pope is a peaceful man as I believe Jesus and the Apostles Paul, Peter, John and James were peaceful men. I do not see the Catholic Pope calling for “jihad”. Nor did I ever come across any writing by any of the Apostles of Jesus concerning the killing of “infidels”. Jesus is the most maligned individual of human history. We know why that is. He was never a part of the world he was born into. He was “in” the world, but he was never “of” the world. Jesus is the merciful and loving God of heaven. As such, he would never call for the killing of a single soul. All souls are to be given that opportunity for salvation. That is what the death and resurrection of Christ is about. That is the only thing the death and resurrection of Christ is about. This is where human religious leaders fail. Human religious leaders dwell not on God, but on humanity. They care for individuals, but not in keeping with eternal aspects. They dwell on works as a form of pleasuring God. God is not pleasured by the works of men for men. The works of men for men lead to jihad and inquisition. The works of men for men lead to crusade and physical destruction by sword and fire. The works of men for men lead to starvation and racial hatred and religious fanaticism. God is never in such equations. All religion is guilty of hatred. All men are guilty of hatred. No one could have been more righteous in his anger against men than Jesus because when he saw men, he saw no love for his Father and no love for him. He experienced only the anger and sin of men. Islam and Muslims are anomalies. They call themselves peaceful and yet are offended by the slightest slight. They cannot face up to their own history. When it is pointed out that Islam was mostly spread through violence and coercion (even as it is today) the amount of offense taken is never proportionate to the mildness of the comments cited; burning a Pope in effigy and killing an innocent nun, while firebombing Christian Churches is not a very appropriate response to citing a centuries old quotation from someone who actually saw the destruction wrought by Islam’s chief prophet. Certainly the “Crusades” weren’t the correct “Christian” response to being smacked on the cheek by Arabia, but again, the Crusades were not biblical or scriptural in scope. All such forms of violence are man-driven, irrespective of any teachings based in religious teachings of “peace”. Until the “Prince of Peace” returns to rule the world the world will have no true peace. Men will always take offense from other men. No religion will truly understand any other religion and more religions will be developed by men who become continually dissatisfied with their own ideas of selfishness and selflessness. The one true example in all of the world’s religious anomalies is that of the Son of God. He was born into the world to set the example of faith and peace. His faith resided in only one thing; his Father in heaven. His peace was always evident in his words and his acts of healing and love toward his followers and those who came under his teachings. Even when displaying anger, it was tempered with a respect for God that brought only glory to his Father and never shame. The love of Jesus will never be matched by any man. Mohammad was just a man with his own agenda. The Catholic Papacy has always had its dogmatic agenda set by humans who were elevated to positions of authority by other humans. Every religion established by the whims of men is flawed in attempting to approach the true God of heaven with some form of worship never sanctioned by Prophet, Priest or the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. The very simplistic statement says: “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No man comes to the Father except through me… (but by me)!” Islam, Catholicism, Hinduism and any other ism is flawed and unserviceable in the salvation of men. God deals with men individually and mankind should probably take a moment to remember that.
