By Patrick Hurley Sept. 18, 2006 Ya gotta love Dog the Bounty Hunter. Now he has an entire country falling all over itself to corral him. Mexico outmanned us at the Alamo. Now, they are being outfoxed by a woofer! To refresh your memory... Andrew Luster, the Max Factor heir who was convicted of raping three women, was brought to justice by Duane "Dog" Chapman, bounty hunter. There was one teeny problem with the varmint cruising south of the border and bringing back his man. Mexico does not allow bounty hunters to come to their country and operate outside their laws. (Perhaps if Dog had grabbed a few thousand illegal immigrants and brought them to America instead, that would have made the Mexican government happier?) But, he didn't. He nabbed Luster. So, Mexico arrested Chapman and he posted bail, walked out of jail, promised to stand trial and....permanently ended his taste for margaritas. This, of course, infuriated Mexico. So, they arranged to have him re-arrested in Hawaii last week. Now, Dog will have to go back to his new best friendly government and face charges of being a bad bounty hunter and an even more irresponsible bail jumper. The A&E Network, which televises a show about Chapman's exploits cleverly calling it, "Dog the Bounty Hunter," is really upset their star is back in jail. Oh yeah, I BET they are. What was the saying, "ANY publicity is good publicity." You want to build your ratings for your show? Create an international incident. There is no news about a guy who quietly rots away in a jail cell, but when he jumps bail, is brought to justice in Hawaii and shows up at his arraignment in a muscle t-shirt blasting Mexico and his own government for overreacting to the fine job he does in bringing down criminals...now THAT is a story! Dog is back in the news! Thank you, Mexico. Thank you, America. Thank you, A&E. Now, I am not saying the country of Mexico is stupid or anything. But, well heck, it is. What exactly is the POINT here? I will tell you. Mexico is embarrassed that it took a maverick lawman to come in and take down a three- time rapist when Mexico SHOULD have done that themselves. The law enforcement in their country is not going to be a threat to Scotland Yard anytime soon. No wonder they don't like bounty hunters doing a better job than they do. There is one way to eliminate the competition....declare them and their methods illegal! That will put an end to anyone outside of Mexico trying to get the legal job done. Unfortunately, Dog and his posse are not the kind of canines that will go quietly into the night. Along with A&E and all their entourage, there is going to be plenty of barking at the moon over the next few weeks or until Mexico comes to its senses and drops the charges. They will soon realize this is tantamount to grabbing a beehive and running around in circles with it until you die of sting bites. Mexico now has a rabid Dog on its hands. They are playing right into his hands.
