Sept. 16, 2006 In the aftermath of the September 11, 2006 attacks on the United States of America Great Britain presented the Americans with 14 cows, so did Russia, France, Germany, Japan, China, Israel, Indonesia, Australia and so on and so forth . Many nations’ gave 14 cows to the United State of America. Rewind and reality check! The only country or people that actually gave 14 live ruminants were a group of Masai- a nomadic and sometimes sedentary tribes people from Kenya in East Africa as a show of their sympathy and concern for what happened in/to the United States of America on that clear blue September morning. The story may not necessarily be that 14 live cows were given as a present or that in African terms it was a great honour. The Americans made no move to reciprocate in collecting the cows until pressed from whatever quarter did the American ambassador to Kenya on the 10/11 of September 2006 attempt to travel to the hovel and express his gratitude for the singular act of kindness and he still did not collect the cows. Just as their biblical counter parts in the story of Joseph prior to his rise to become Prime Minister, these Kenyan cows were symbolic of the mood of the world then with America.. “We weep with you, here take these fat cows, let’s grieve together and later have some barbecue while we talk about it ….” No sooner than the referendum for revenge set in – the 14 cows from all over the world were cast aside ; maybe a good thing –they may have tasted first hand what was to come ……..at a high security Centres for Disease Control facility out in the Mojave desert or Arizona desert or worse Amoo-Graihb or worst Guantana-moo! Puns aside, 14 cows aside and America cast everything aside; the health bill, the Florida recent controversy, Democrat /Republican, Republican/Democrat bitter acrimony, Katrina, goodwill …all to prosecute the War on Terror! On an interactive program on the BBC yesterday, a caller an American bitterly put it that-Americans are still “seething, angry”, in effect still in denial, for had America –ns become ready to move on, ‘forgive’ the slight :real and perceived [the taking down of the symbols of the engines of capitalism …], the world have truly been a changed place . Instead, insurgents are resurging. Iran has become so emboldened it is further muddying the sullied waters by showing its many ‘alien hands’- unleashing the dogs of war Hezbollah, damning the United Nations and increasing, unveiled bellicosity toward Israel, going as far as denying the Holocaust [the equivalent of insulting The Prophet S.W.A.], NATO in a misplaced regimental philosophy fling have left Europe and become embroiled in Afghanistan, poignant that Article 5: …”the parties agree that an armed attack against one or more of them in Europe or North America shall be an attack against them all,” should come 5 years after 9-11. A coincidence? A war that cannot be won …the Soviet Union at one time had almost 300,000 men on ground and still had to pull out; NATO is for 2000 more men.
