Sept. 13, 2006 Another year passes marking yet another anniversary of the World Trade Center attacks. One thing Americans do well is forget. We tend to forget the important issues and why we are in the mess we are in. Act of War Any act occurring in the course of declared war; armed conflict, whether or not war has been declared, between two or more nations; or armed conflict between military forces of any origin. 18 U.S.C. By infiltrating our borders and using a plane as a weapon killing many civilians to me, is a declaration of war. At that point in time I was driving a truck into N.Y.C. three times a week delivering lighting components to the Trade Center. On the day of the devastating tragedy, I was fired for rushing my wife to the hospital and not calling in. That day, scheduled to be at the Trade Center but I was not and am thankful I wasn’t. On my way home that day I was listening to the Howard Stern Program and he was watching a television program showing what was happening. I couldn’t believe my ears when he said “A plane just flew right into the side of the Trade Center. “ I had to pull over. I lived sixteen minutes away from there and when I looked to my right I saw a devilish mountain of smoke hovering over the Trade center. Weeks before I was walking to have lunch across the street from the Center and told some construction worker “Man, if that ever fell it would cover at least seven blocks.” The worker said “More then that but nothing to worry about.” I said “Yeah but what if?” When you were on the 101st floor of the building you can feel it sway as you heard the creaking of the frame of the building. One guy told me it had to do that or it would snap. Now still in shock of that terrorist act, I like everyone was focused on the news. A plane was boarded by terrorists and the Americans on board stood up against them. They would rather die in a fiery crash to the ground then give these thugs the satisfaction of getting their say in the matter. The Pentagon was another target. I thought I was living in a dream but reality sunk in fast. The firemen and Police did whatever they could to save whomever they could. I drove to the site to do what I could. Seeing men and women jumping off the top floors of the World Trade Center was just so hard to see. The Mayor was there on the scene as soon as he got the word. Men, women and children were panic stricken running down the streets as the Center came tumbling down. Remember that day folks. Have we forgotten what America stands for? We are the freedom of the world. We stand up for freedoms and always stood up to the bullies of the world. We are one nation under god and when the bad guys hear our freedom bell ringing, they run and hide like the cowards that they are. When Hitler declared war on freedom America was there to stop the tyrant. Not only did six million Jews suffer the gas chambers of Nazi camps but 80 million Americans died defending the side of right. We must stamp out aggressors of criminal acts before it is too late. Hussein, Comaini as well as Gaddafi and many others in their path stampeding freedom were always confronted and dealt with so why must this act of terror be any different. Yes, we have forgotten the many lives that suffered the loss of brave civilians that perished on 9/11/91. We have forgotten the children, husbands, wives of the dead. Mourn America for it may be your turn next. The mind set of the new evil is that all civilians in the world must die in the name of some religion. We must not stand for this sort of anarchy and we must stand up and fight for the freedom of a world that wants to live to breath the air, see the birds and smell the roses. We must fight to secure a future for our children and their children’s children. We must see that stamping out terror is the American ways and that we are not a nation that stands by idle and watches as the world reaps the devastations. Remember Americans, try and remember what we once stood for and stop fighting against your brothers and sisters and work together to snuff out these punks. As our young sons and daughters, husbands and wives our fighting the fight over there, we are living the life over here. We are not a nation that stands by and waits we are doers and go-getters. Remember, we are one Nation, under God to fight for Liberty and justice for all mankind. I would rather die fighting for what is right then live watching us go down in flames.
