By Patrick Hurley Sept. 2, 2006 With all due respect to the two writers who have praised Mary Lacey and found her to be highly regarded for bringing John Mark Karr home from Thailand... Get real. A legal leader such as Lacey should NEVER be congratulated for screwing up a major murder case because she indicted the wrong suspect! If she started putting all sex offenders from international domains on airplanes and serving them champagne is that cause for celebration, too? Why not? If it is good for one pedophile, it will be good for ALL pedophiles. Using the rationale of making D.A. Lacey a heroine in all this is tantamount to praising an arsonist for torching someone's house with the result being that a mini-safe was found containing $300.00. Wow! Let's all party on that discovery, huh! John Mark Karr will be out of prison in NO time. He may not even get a sentence. He is being tried on possessing child pornography. Mary Lacey didn't save ANY children from this sicko. She just TEMPORARILY transferred his geographical location from Thailand to the United States and wasted $100,000.00+ of the taxpayer's money and gave false hopes to the grieving Ramsey family and friends. She was negligent in putting together her case and should be penalized for that. What was worse? His lie or her ineptitude? It is a sad day in this country when local city officials are encouraged to troll all over the world for suspects that have no justification in being brought to the forefront of a murder case that cannot be solved because those said officials are unprofessional. Truthfully, John Mark Karr WOULD have placed into a Thai jail for a lot longer time than he is going to serve in California had not Mary Lacey stepped in and aborted justice with her loopy case. Please bring reasoning to her irresponsible actions.
