After the talk was given, the congregation was asked to go silent for a few minutes. In this silence, individuals could collect their thoughts, or pray, or do a small meditation. James would usually just say a quick prayer or two, or practice some deep breathing, in order to feel centered or even more at ease. On that morning though, as he exhaled slowly with his eyes closed, he went into a deep meditation, a deep sea of calmness. It was not a static state though, and in a few more seconds his body wanted to sway, just a bit back and forth. The backs of his hands rested on his legs and his palms faced upwards, forefinger and thumb touching on each hand. That much, he had done. What followed, involved spirit. He started to feel spirit working on his body and clearing out all negativity. He felt spirit infuse him with radiance, warmth, and light. His own spirit began to vibrate on a much higher frequency and rise up so that it included not only his body, but also a few feet of space above his head, above his crown chakra. Then his spirit saw and felt a passageway of heaven open up and begin to pour down light and love. His body and soul were being blasted with heaven. Someone behind him had been praying quietly to herself, in a whisper, but he could hear the words and was continually moved by the sincerity with which they were delivered. That person praying, or possibly the person beside her, was now weeping tears of joy, healing tears. Heaven remained open and James was absorbing eternity. He thought perhaps that heaven had been opened for the person or persons directly behind him, in lieu of the prayer and then the weeping. He thought that this might be happening because he was lucky enough to have been ‘in the way.’ At the same time, he did feel that this opening of heaven had been for him. Either way, he’d taken it, and was happy. “God is great,’ someone had once told him. Yes, God was great, and heaven was a blast.
