Oct. 10, 2006 North Korea is stirring up trouble in East Asia with its nuclear tests, while Iran feverishly pursues its own nuclear weapons while it works to undermine democracy in Iraq and Lebanon and, through Hezbollah, tries to destroy Israel. Our response? We continue to urge six party talks on North Kore(that have gone nowhere) and we want to negotiate with Iran, through former President Khatami. These are two fanatical countries, where Death to America is more than a slogan, it is something they are actually striving for. Iran and North Korea epitomize the term "rogue state" these are two brutal dictatorships that abide by no treaties, allow their people no freedom, and use terrorism or proliferate nuclear material. A theocracy and a Stalinist hell straight from the pages of 1984 might be as different as night and day, but that doesn't mean they can't work together for a common goal: wage war on America. Any agreement with these countries will only show, once again, that American diplomats are Ivy League gullibles who believe that without something to back it up a piece of paper is more than a piece of paper. In 1994 President Clinton signed an agreement with North Korea, in which we essentially promised to pay tribute to Pyongyang if they stopped pursuing nuclear weapons. we sent food and fuel and the North Koreans went on building nukes anyway. It wasn't the endless arms control treaties that brought down the Soviet Union it was Reagans military buildup, and negotiations won't finish off the Axis of Evil either. I thought President Bush was supposed to be somedangerous cowboy. So what happened? If two countries ever needed regime change it's North Korea and Iran. Talks make us look like we are weak. The Iranians gloat that they have the Great Satan on the run, and the North Koreans will smirk that we tremble before them. These two will have to be dealt with eventually, so why let them get stronger. We not support the Iranian people in overthrowing the regime in Tehran. North Korea might be dangerous but it will only grow more dangerous, better to deal with it than to ignore it. We can't make a dealm with the devil and walk away unsinged. Iran and North Korea will not be bound by any agreement and will stay on their present course. Unless we do something about it. It's time we consider finishing off the Axis. ------------ About the author: Craig Chamberlain has written more than 100 articles for Useless-Knowledge.com.
