 By Bonijean Isaacs Oct. 9, 2006 In the Summer 2005 – Congressman Mark Foley sent e-mails to a 16-year-old Louisiana boy who had been a Congressional page. The boy's response to the e-mails was "sick" 13 times and saying "This freaks me out." The Louisiana boy contacts staff in the Washington office of his congressman, Rep. Rodney Alexander, R-La., about the e-mails from Foley. The Louisiana Congressman contracted House Speaker Dennis Hastert's Office described the exchange only as "over-friendly.". Foley was counseled and advised "Not to do it again……….." September of 2006, ABC and Internet Blogs published publish sexually explicit instant messages between Foley and several former pages. Hastert confronted Foley who submitted a letter of resignation and promptly checked himself into an Alcoholic Treatment Facility. Foley's attorney, David Roth, tells a news conference that Foley, when he was a child, was molested by a Catholic Clergy and that he is gay. But he denies that Foley had any sexual contact with the under age page. Now comes the Congressional Investigation Committee. They can't fire Foley because he resigned. Mark Foley is busted. His political career is terminus. He may be subjected to legal consequences of the very laws that he help to enact. So who's fault is it? Did the Priest make him do it or was it Alcoholic Stupidity. Maybe it's a Left Wing Conspiracy. Mark Foley is the Republican Congressman from Florida who bragged about Character References from the Christian Coalition and American Conservative Union. He co-chaired the caucus on missing and exploited children, railing against Internet pedophiles. Lets hope that Foley was not in the grips of Alcoholic Stupidity when he was multitasking on the floor of the House of Representatives, preparing to vote on an appropriations bill for Iraq while he exchanging e-mails with a teenage page and requested a cyber-kiss with the suggestion that the boy visit him over the Veteran's Day weekend. ''We may need to drink at my house so we don't get busted,'' Foley suggested. The Congressional Investigation Committee wants to know, "Did the Good Old Boy System allow Foley to continue his unacceptable behavior?" Do the Good Old Boys really have time to monitor someone else's private e-mails? Election day will tell the tale. Some of them will be voted out of office regardless. The Political Opponents will have their day as rub their hands together in glee and gain control of the Congress. The dance continues until a Political Scandal falls into their back yard.
