Oct. 2, 2006 Most Americans now realize the decision to invade and occupy Iraq was a colossal blunder, maybe one of the worst decisions ever made by a president of the United States. This country is in a no win situation. If we stay, there will only be more bloodshed and anarchy, and if we leave, there will be bloodshed, anarchy, plus a loss of respect for American power. It's obvious George W. Bush will never order a withdrawal, so it will be up to the next president to decide how much money and how many lives we are supposed to throw at this massive mistake. The real reason the U.S. occupies Iraq is because it's a culmination of some bizarre neo-con theory that the U.S. should control the world's oil supply. The neo-cons, using President Bush as their stooge, were able to use fear and lies to scare Americans into initially supporting the decision to invade. Nobody in the Bush administration honestly believed Saddam Hussein still had weapons of mass destruction. In Michael Moore's movie, Fahrenheit 911, there is footage of Bush administration officials including Condi Rice publicly saying Saddam Hussein was not a tthreat and did not have WMDs. Then 9-11 happened and they changed their tune. The neo-cons jumped on this as an excuse to implement their nutty view of U.S. world domination and President Bush began telling whopper after whopper. Here is a list of lies President Bush and his administration told prior to March 2003. --In a speech in Ohio President Bush said Iraq had unmanned aerial vehicles capable of reaching the United States. This was proven entirely false and was ridiculous to begin with. The U.S. had complete control of Iraqi air space before the invasion. --President Bush said the International Atomic Energy Agency had written a report that said Iraq was six months away from building a nuclear weapon. No such report existed. --The Bush administration used an intelligence document that was known to be forged to claim that Iraq was attempting to get uranium from Niger. Later, they were forced to admit that the "sixteen words" in the President's speech were not true. --The Bush administration said Iraq was trying to build long range missiles. This was false. All they had were blue prints for a missile that only went a few miles over the imposed limit. --President Bush said there were satellite photos of buildings in Iraq that were being used for nuclear weapons building--a proven falsehood. --The White House continuously made press releases claiming Iraq had large stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons--proven falsehoods. --When the U.S. invaded Iraq and WMDs were not found, Colin Powell claimed Iraq was moving weapons out of the country, but Hans Blix, head of the Iraqi Survey Group inspectors, said there was no evidence of this. --In the buildup to the war President Bush continuously made references to 9-11 and then switched the subject to Saddam Hussein thus implying Iraq had something to do with the 9-11 attacks. --Even after Czech authorities debunked a report that Mohammed Atta met with Iraqi intelligence, Vice-President Cheney kept going on television, repeating this false claim. --There was an overall pattern of fixing intelligence according to Vincent Cannistrano, former head of the CIA's counterintelligence. He said this, "basically, cooked information is working its way into higher level pronouncements, and there is a lot of unhappiness about it in intelligence, especially among agents at the CIA. After the war the lying continues. President Bush has been spreading some stunning revisionist history. --In three different speeches President Bush said we had to invade Iraq because Saddam wouldn't let weapons inspectors in the country. This is entirely false. Mr. Hussein allowed inspectors from the ISG in before the invasion. There is no doubt that the Bush administration deliberately deceived this nation into war, and according to John Dean of the Nixon administration, this is an impeachable offense. An Ipsos Public Affairs poll shows that a majority of Americans (50%-44%) believe President Bush should be impeached if he lied about the reasons for the war in Iraq. Only 36% favored Clinton's impeachment. Support for impeaching Bush is higher than the mainstream media reports. ------------ About the author Mark Gelbart: My book, Talk Radio, is a black comedy about a radio talk show host who gets kidnapped and psychologically tortured by a loser. www.mark-gelbart.com Email: agelbart@aol.com Comment on this article here! ------------ All articles are EXCLUSIVE to Useless-Knowledge.com and are not allowed to be posted on other websites.
