Oct. 1, 2006 “The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeks him. It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.” Lamentations 3:25-26 The rule of debate or argument implies rightness and wrongness, logic and illogic, fact and fantasy. A long time ago God spoke to the creature and told him that he would bruise the heel of one he would send to redeem fallen man, but that this same one would bruise his head. The argument between good and evil was sealed on that day. Since that day men have longed for the time God would fulfill his promise. Men have scoffed, asking “where is the promise of his coming?” The answers are clearly written and understandable to those who have inherited the teacher and instructor. Those of us who have come to understand the Word of God need not be bogged down in debates full of human vanity and frivolousness. We can be content. We can be fully satisfied that the argument is finished and we need now only “quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD”. Of course this salvation has already appeared. The head of Satan has been bruised by the selfless act of the Son of God. This “Lamentation” was written long before the act but still holds valuable instruction looking for the second advent of the Redeemer. “The LORD is good unto them that wait for him…” It is the one who knows him and holds him as LORD who understands the “good” that extends from God. There is never a need for concern. God knows our weaknesses and knows how to protect those he loves. Those who are lost in their own arguments; debating the very existence of the one who created them have no real contentment. This is shown in their continual attacks against faith and those of us who have spiritual contentment. It is the easiest thing to do to ignore misplaced discontentment. It is a strange thing to see men speak against the very God that gave his life to affect their chance for eternal life in the new heavens. Since the debate is already settled the arguments of the faithless are largely worthless. There is a misunderstanding perhaps that God created a religion or that he created religion in general. I would laugh but it is too serious a matter. Dealing with the souls of men the blood of men could easily be charged to the negligent believer. We should never quit “the race” that is set. We should always strive to finish our course even if we come in last. You might understand that, in faith, even the last position is a winning position. The promise of scripture is that “many will be saved, yet so, as by fire”. To the one inhabited by the Holy Spirit such a phrase is one of comfort, not concern. Faith says ignore the arguments of vanity and “preach in season”. Faith says the arguments are already won so “preach out of season”. Faith says the faithless are wrong so “rebuke and reprove”. Faith enjoins the believer to do that with “all longsuffering and doctrine”. We “hope” and we “quietly wait”. In that, we receive our blessings and our continual solace from God. This is something incomprehensible to the unbeliever, but not altogether unexplainable. Therefore, we explain. ------------ Email Skip: skiptoomaloo@hotmail.com Comment on this article here! ------------ All articles are EXCLUSIVE to Useless-Knowledge.com.
