Nov. 27, 2006 The UK columnist of the year should be someone who supports UK by posting articles on a regular basis. Brooks A. Mick, MD is a prolific writer who has submitted over 300 essays to UK. The columnist of the year should be a writer who puts the interests of UK ahead of his own. When a contributor posts a rebuttal or an attack piece on the main page, it's an expression of selfishness and narcissism. It's saying I don't care if my rebuttal will make UK unpalatable to the major news search engines, my personal attack is too important to relegate to the rebuttal section. Dr. Mick never engages in ad hominem attacks on other writers. The columnist of the year should have a basic grasp of the English language. Dr. Mick is a fine writer and selecting him for this honor would not be an embarrassment to UK. I don't share Dr. Mick's political ideology, but I share his love of writing. Dr. Mick would be a worthy recipient of this award. The selection of Dr. Mick for this award would send a strong message that readers and contributors value good writing and desire UK to be free of "flame wars" and personal attacks. ------------ About the author: Robert Paul Reyes has written over 300 articles for Useless-Knowledge.com.
