Nov. 22, 2006 So I gave him the benefit of a doubt. He talked a good fight at the Democrat National Convention and he sounded sincere enough. He lied. He’s a liberal. He’s being pitted against Hillary already. Along with all the recent “puff” pieces about what a wonderful Presidential Candidate Obama would make (after only two unfruitful years of Senate-sitting) comes this gem of a note from the staff writers of the “Daily Herald” – “Obama calls for troop withdrawal in 6 months”. Obama is just another Democrat wanting to save soldiers’ lives I suppose. Or perhaps Obama wants to empathize with Jack Murtha’s unsuccessful attempt to become the House’s number two liberal retreat artist. To quote the article: “…the Democrat told attendees of a Chicago Council on Global Affairs event…that withdrawal should begin in the next four to six months and that those soldiers should be moved to Afghanistan to focus on terrorist groups again gaining strength in that country.” Which doesn’t make a damn bit of sense. If soldiers need to be redeployed or boosted in Afghanistan because of a resurgent Taliban, what of Iraq ’s resurgent insurgents? The Islamists in Iraq smell blood and see the cowardice of the newly elected Liberal American Democrat Congress and are killing more than the resurgent Taliban could ever dream of. John McCain is calling for more troops in Iraq . Charles Rangel (Dem-N.Y.) is calling for a draft! Who let these nutcases out of the pig sty? Obama is quoted: “We know these countries want us to fail and we should remain steadfast in our opposition to their support of terrorism and Iran 's nuclear ambitions," Obama said. "But neither Iran nor Syria want to see a security vacuum in Iraq filled with chaos, terrorism, refugees and violence as it could have a destabilizing effect on the entire region and within Iran and Syria themselves." This is naïve. We do know that Iran and Syria want American failure and everything they are doing right now is pointed toward that effort. Why in heaven anyone would think Iran and Syria would negotiate anything that would benefit America ’s involvement in Iraq is the wishful-thought-of-the-moment! The more chaos, terrorism and violence the better as far as Syria and Iran are concerned. They relish it, encourage it, fund it and cause it! They’re not going to turn away from the very programs they sponsor to please or help America make Iraq a democratic republic. That is the very last thing Syria and Iran want of neighboring Iraq ! Yet quoting: “Obama, who is considering a run for president in 2008, also advocated negotiating Iraq 's future with neighboring Iran and Syria …” Obama is a dunce. However, Susan Estrich wrote in her latest column: “A Race With Obama Will Boost Hillary's Presidential Hopes”: “Impressive as she was last week in her acceptance speech, New York 's re-elected Democratic Sen. Hillary Clinton now has real competition for the Democratic presidential nomination. Barack Obama is not only topping the bestseller lists; he is also, almost overnight, since announcing his possible interest in a presidential bid, running second to the New York senator in the latest round of public opinion polls for the 2008 Democratic nomination…” Estrich asks: “Is it bad news for Hillary?” then answers: “Not if you ask me… Real competition is exactly what Hillary needs…Without Obama, what kind of competition does Hillary really face? “…What does it say about Hillary if she could “wrest” the nomination from John Kerry? Not much.” “…You need to beat winners, not losers.” Estrich continues on about how contests against “straw men” like Kerry and Gore and others are not the fights Hillary needs to win to impress people, but she writes: “That’s where Obama comes in…Hillary v. Obama is a race worth watching. That’s good for both of them. It means if she beats him — and it will take a marathon, not a sprint, to do it — she’s won a victory that’s worth something.” Estrich thinks people will pay attention to a battle between Obama and Clinton, but she writes: “Of course, it is a risky business… No risk, no gain. An unknown like Obama needs a major campaign like this to establish and test himself before the final round. And so does Hillary… After all, she has a transformation to accomplish.” So there’s your set up. Hillary has been labeled a “Hawk” to Obama’s “Dove. Neither are fighters. Both are appeasers in the form of Carter, Clinton and Ramsey Clark. I told you I’d be watching this guy because he was no different from any other liberal.
